	Horizontal Machining Center; 40" x 18" x 22" (1016 x 457 559 mm), 40 taper, 52" x 20" (1321 x 508 mm) T-slot table with integrated 4th axis, 20 hp (14.9 kW) vector drive, inline direct-drive, 8000 rpm, 24+1 side-mount tool changer, chip auger system, 1 MB program memory, 15" color LCD monitor, USB port and rigid tapping. The ES-5-4AX has a 52" x 20" (1321 x 508 mm) T-slot table with a 12.2" (310 mm) integrated 4th-axis platter. The unique, Haas-designed direct-drive system couples the motor directly to the 8000-rpm, 40-taper spindle for a smooth, cool-running, quiet and efficient drive train. This improves surface finishes and part tolerance. The 20 hp (14.9 kW) Haas vector drive produces plenty of low-end torque, as well as the rpm necessary for high-speed machining. The Haas-built 40-taper SMTC stores tools outside of the work envelope, to free up valuable workspace for large fixtures. A quick-change double-arm gripper swaps tools in 2.8 seconds The ES-5-4AX series comes standard with a triple-auger chip removal system. Chip removal is fast and efficient, particularly from behind the saddle, and chips exit the side tube at a 26.1-inch (663 mm) height. * Product may be shown with optional equipment.
