Face Gear Indexers
The optional indexing tables for EC models use a face gear coupler – a design that yields superior indexing accuracy and establishes super-high rigidity for off-center milling and drilling/tapping operations. The indexer positions the pallet at precise 1-degree or 5-degree increments (depending on machine model), guaranteeing maximum repeatability and stability.
Full 4th Axis
A fully integrated 4th axis provides simultaneous 4-axis motion for complex work. Program any angle, or perform circular cuts on the outside of your parts. For superior accuracy, Haas uses a rotary encoder directly coupled to the 4th-Axis platter for closed-loop feedback.  The Haas 4th axis runs directly from the HMC’s control, for seamless operation and uncomplicated programming.

High-Speed Spindles
Maintaining the proper chip load during high-speed machining is crucial. The latest high-speed spindles from Haas let you take full advantage of the time savings and increased accuracy possible with today’s high-speed machining. EC models with a 40-taper, inline direct-drive system (20 hp, 8000 rpm standard) are available with a 30-hp, 12,000-rpm spindle option. The 50-taper EC-1600, EC-2000 and EC-3000 (7500 rpm standard) have a 10,000-rpm spindle option available.
Through-Spindle Coolant
Optional TSC operates via an auxiliary pump that supplies coolant at up to 300 psi to the cutting edge. This improves tool life and allows higher speeds, deep hole drilling and blind pocket milling – resulting in higher productivity and reduced cycle times. The exclusive Haas design includes a special seal that disengages when the system is not in use, which extends the life of the system.
(Note: This system provides 300 psi at a flow rate of 1.5 gallons per minute, and 250 psi at 4 gpm. The actual pressure will vary with the diameter of the coolant passages in the tool.)
High-Speed Machining
The HSM option provides a powerful tool to reduce cycle times and improve accuracy. Using a motion algorithm called ”acceleration before interpolation,“ combined with full look-ahead of up to 80 blocks, HSM provides fast contouring feeds without distortion of the programmed path. The Haas HSM option accepts ISO standard G code, and is a fraction of the cost of other high-speed controls.
Programmable Coolant Nozzle
P-Cool is a multi-position programmable nozzle that automatically directs coolant precisely at the part without having to open the doors. The position of the nozzle is controlled via the part program, saving operator time by eliminating constant adjustments and allowing unattended operation. The nozzle can also be fine-tuned from the control pendant while a program is running.

Auxiliary Coolant Filter System
This 25-micron #2 bag-type filter system removes contamination and minute particles from the coolant before they can be recirculated through the coolant pump. The filter is mandatory for machines equipped with through-spindle coolant when machining cast iron, cast aluminum and other abrasive materials, and may be used on non-TSC machines as well.
Hard Drive & Ethernet Interface w/USB Support
Store and transfer data between your Haas and a network or PC with the Ethernet connection. Program files are easily transferred to and from memory or the internal hard drive, and large files can be accessed by multiple machines. High-speed data transfers allow DNC of large files at up to 1,000 blocks per second. USB support allows the use of customer-supplied Zip™ drives or flash memory devices. Compatible with Windows 95, 98, ME, 2000 and XP. Also works with server versions NT 4.0, 2000 and 2003. IPX/SPX or TCP/IP protocol. Easily set up from the control screen.
Visual Quick Code Programming System
Visual Quick Code (VQC) uses a graphical interface that makes creating simple G-code programs almost effortless. First select the operation you want (e.g., bolt-hole circle or pocket milling), and then choose a part template from the display. VQC will prompt you to fill in part dimensions, speeds and feeds, etc., and then generates the G-code program for the operation. Modify the existing templates or create your own. VQC includes standard Quick Code as well – using a conversational interface, you can select English commands, such as ”spindle forward,“ from a menu, and the correct G code (M03 in this case) will be inserted into the program.
Visual Quick Code Probing System
By integrating Renishaw's probing hardware and Inspection Plus software with the Haas VQC programming system, we've made automated setup and inspection processes very simple. Basic, everyday language in a conversational format guides you through the process, step by step. Just input basic information in response to the prompts, and the control will do the programming. In addition to tool and part setups, the use of macros (included) and advanced programming methods allows for such operations as in-process tool and part inspection, first-off part measurement, and automatic compensation for thermal changes.

Control Options
In addition to HSM, HD/ENET and VQC, the wide range of Haas software options includes memory upgrades to 16 MB, additional user-definable M functions, coordinate rotation and scaling, user-definable macros, spindle orientation and more.
