Auto Door
This option opens and closes the machine doors automatically via the part program. This reduces operator fatigue during repetitive machining operations, or allows for unattended operation when used with a robotic loader. (Available on VF-1 through VF-5.)
High-Speed Spindles
30,000-rpm Spindle: The Haas 30K spindle uses BT 30-taper tooling and accepts tools up to 0.5" max diameter. Hybrid ceramic angular-contact bearings, an air/oil spot lubrication system, and a spindle chiller ensure superior accuracy and long bearing life. The 30K spindle is available on VF-1 through VF-4 models. 10,000- and 15,000-rpm Spindles: A variety of 10K spindles are available for Haas VF models – for 40- or 50-taper models, with or without a gearbox. A 15K spindle option is available for all 40-taper, direct-drive VF models.
Automatic Air Gun
Provides a constant blast of air to the cutting tool to clear chips during dry machining. Activated by M code, the air gun can be programmed to turn on while the spindle is turning, or at the end of a cycle. Air consumption for the auto air gun is 6 SCFM.
Linear Scales
When absolute positioning accuracy is necessary, linear scales are the only way to ensure exact axis positioning under fluctuating temperatures. Linear scales ensure positioning accuracy along X, Y and Z axes by compensating for the thermal variations inherent in all machine tools. With a 1-micron resolution, these scales deliver the extreme accuracy required for mold making and other high-precision machining applications. (Available on VF-1 through VF-11.)
Auxiliary Coolant Filter
This 25-micron, #2 bag-type filter system removes contamination and minute particles from the coolant before they can be recirculated.
Programmable Coolant Nozzle
We spent time watching operators machining parts and noticed they were constantly opening the doors of the machine to readjust coolant lines. Our programmable coolant nozzle is controlled automatically by the part program to direct coolant precisely at the cutting area, eliminating constant adjustments by the operator. The nozzle can also be adjusted from the keypad while a program is running.
Chip Auger
People buy CNC machines to make money by making parts faster. The last thing they want is to waste time removing chips. Our auger-style chip conveyor automatically removes chips from the machine, while compressing them and wringing out the coolant at the same time. For added reliability, the system senses torque loads and reverses automatically if a jam occurs.
Through-Spindle Coolant
Through-spindle coolant uses an auxiliary pump to supply coolant through the tool, directly to the cutting edge. This increases tool life, allows higher cutting speeds, and clears chips during deep-hole drilling and blind-pocket milling.

Two systems are available. One provides up to 300 psi to the cutting edge, and the other provides up to 1,000 psi. The 1,000-psi system includes the auxiliary coolant filter (shown at right). The actual pressure of both systems will vary with the size of the coolant passages in the tool.

The chart to the right illustrates the relationship between flow and pressure. For both the 300-psi and 1,000-psi through-spindle coolant options, the highest pressure occurs at the lowest flow rate. The actual pressure delivered to the cutting edge depends on the size of the coolant passages in the tool. Smaller coolant passages restrict the flow, causing the pressure to increase (up to the maximum provided by the system). Conversely, larger coolant passages in the tool allow more fluid to pass through, resulting in lower pressure at the cutting edge.
Visual Quick Code Programming System
Visual Quick Code (VQC) uses a graphical interface that makes creating simple G-code programs almost effortless. First select the operation you want (e.g., bolt-hole circle or pocket milling), and then choose a part template from the display. VQC will prompt you to fill in part dimensions, speeds and feeds, etc., and then generates the G-code program for the operation. Modify the existing templates or create your own. VQC includes standard Quick Code as well – using a conversational interface, you can select English commands, such as ”spindle forward,“ from a menu, and the correct G code (M03 in this case) will be inserted into the program.
Hard Drive/Ethernet/USB
Store and transfer data between your Haas and a network or PC with the Ethernet connection. Program files are easily transferred to and from memory or the internal hard drive, and large files can be accessed by multiple machines. High-speed data transfers allow DNC of large files at up to 1,000 blocks per second. USB support allows the use of customer-supplied Zip™ drives or flash memory devices. Compatible with Windows 95, 98, ME, 2000 and XP. Also works with server versions NT 4.0, 2000 and 2003. IPX/SPX or TCP/IP protocol. Easily set up from the control screen.
High-Speed Machining
The HSM option provides a powerful tool to reduce cycle times and improve accuracy. Using a motion algorithm called ”acceleration before interpolation,“ combined with full look-ahead of up to 80 blocks, HSM provides fast contouring feeds without distortion of the programmed path. The Haas HSM option accepts ISO standard G code, and is a fraction of the cost of other high-speed controls.
Full 4th and 5th Axes

Adding a fully integrated 4th- or 5th-axis Haas brushless rotary table to your Haas VMC creates a supercharged machining center package that boosts your productivity and reduces setups. Fully synchronized 4th- and 5th-axis configurations are available on most Haas VMC models.

Utilizing a Haas HRT310 and a pillow-block support, this dynamic setup can position the part to almost any angle. When compared to multiple manual setups, this is highly efficient.

An HRT210 employing a Haas QuickCube system that allows machining of multiple parts on each side of the cube, and fast changeovers from cube to cube, increasing spindle run time.

Machine up to five sides of a part, eliminate multiple operations and setups, and increase your production output by using a 2-axis tilting rotary table.

This high-productivity application utilizing a custom, multi-part fixture and Haas tailstock increased output by more than 500%.

Vibration-Isolated Gearbox
Haas has invested more than $4 million in the finest gear-making and inspection equipment in the world. Haas gears are CNC machined and hobbed out of 8620 steel, heat treated to 60 Rc, and then precision CNC ground to AGMA Class 13 quality. The gearbox features a self-contained drysump oiling system that circulates oil to all vital areas inside the gearbox. The gearbox is isolated with polyurethane mounts to eliminate vibrations that could show up on finishing passes.
Side-Mount Toolchanger
Our unique side-mount tool changer’s synchronized cycloidal motion is controlled by a precision globoidal cam manufactured in-house on custom 5-axis Haas machines. This rugged, dependable design features a special Haas worm-gear drive and an electronically controlled start/stop system that is free of mechanical brakes, which often wear out and require replacing. Every Haas SMTC is manufactured completely in-house to ensure consistent high quality and guarantee fast, smooth, reliable operation.
95-Gallon Roll-Out Coolant Tank
An 95-gallon coolant tank is standard on the VF-6 through VF-11, and can be added to the VF-1 through VF-5 to increase the coolant capacity.

Our coolant tanks have wheels for easy removal to facilitate cleaning. A separate chip basket and lift-out screen prevent chips from reaching the pump. All electrical and hose connections at the tank can be removed by hand, and the lid and pump can be lifted up and out without removing any fasteners.
Minimum Oil Machining
A precise oil stream is injected at high speed directly at the spinning cutting tool. Oil coats the cutting tool and the immediate cutting area, providing sufficient lubrication to maintain optimum cutting conditions for the tool and material.

Our programmable, minimum-oil-machining (MOM) system dispenses oil directly to the cutting tool, leaving only a minute amount of oil on the workpiece and chips. The system can also be programmed to dispense a measured amount of oil onto a tap prior to tapping to prevent tool breakage.

This system is simple to program, easy on your shop maintenance, friendly to the environment and cost-effective. It works well for cutting most metals.
Dust Extraction System
This system removes dust and particulates generated when machining materials such as graphite and wood, preventing contamination of critical machine components. Powerful suction draws dust away from the tool and into an external collection unit. To keep abrasive particles from reaching critical motion components, the machine’s casting assemblies are pressurized. (Available on VF-1 and VF-2.)
Simplified Tool & Part Probing System
This Haas-exclusive system is a full-featured, high-resolution package that’s fully capable of much more than just tool and part setting. Using macros (included) and advanced programming methods, you can perform such operations as in-process tool and part inspection, first-off part measurement, automatic compensation for thermal changes and even checking for worn or broken tools. This greatly reduces operator-induced variations, and guarantees confidence in automated machining processes for lights-out manufacturing.
Door-Activated High-Intensity Lighting
Halogen lights provide bright, even illumination of the work area for part inspection, job set up and changeovers. Lights turn on and off automatically when doors open and close, or can be activated manually via a switch on the lights.
Intuitive Programming System
The Haas Intuitive Programming System is a proprietary conversational operating system that uses an easy-to-understand format with full-color graphics, to guide the operator through the steps necessary to machine a part. Thanks to Haas’ Intuitive Programming System, it’s no longer necessary for a machine operator to know G code to perform basic milling operations.

The IPS software comes standard on our Toolroom Mills, and is optional on all other Haas vertical machining centers.
