The Haas Broaching line consists of a wide range of tools and inserts to form a variety of shapes in many sizes. Select the application required – such as keyway, hex, or square – and filter through the range of insert sizes to find the one to suite your needs
Haas broaching inserts are manufactured from a sintered alloy, and then heat treated to a hardness of 70-71Rc. This gives the inserts high toughness, and allows them to withstand the high pressures generated during the broaching process. The inserts receive a titanium nitride (TiN) coating to increase wear resistance and reduce friction.
Haas keyway inserts are available in standard inch from 3/32” to 5/8” wide and metric standard sizes from 2mm to 16mm wide. There are also up to four tolerance options, depending on the type of fit that is required. See the broach insert technical details page for the type of fits available.
Keyway inserts that are identified with the –SM code will form a small chamfer (0.2mm x 45°) on the intersection point between the hole and the walls of the broached slot, leaving the hole burr free. Refer to the technical specs of the inserts to verify that the keyway depth and chamfer dimension suit your needs.
Form internal squares or hexagonal shapes by selecting the size and range desired. The technical detail page will also display the recommended pre-hole diameters required before forming each shape.
