Software Update - (Option 5) Clean Installation - NGC

Introduction

NOTE:  This is procedure should only be performed by a Haas certified service technician.

This procedure tells you how to perform a clean software install on machines that have the Next Generation Control.

Note: Use this procedure to downgrade the software.

Important: The Next Generation Control software file size is about 2.5 GB. The download time is slower for USB 2.0 than for USB 3.0 memory devices. If possible, use a USB 3.0 memory device with a computer that has a USB 3.0 port.

Caution: The clean software installation puts the machine back to the factory configuration. The machine loses all data that is different than the factory installation.

Note: Do not upgrade to the current software from software version 100.16.000.1020 or lower. You need to upgrade to 100.16.000.1021 first then you can upgrade to the current software version.  For any issues during the installation refer to Software - NGC - Troubleshooting Guide.

Note: For a updating the software on a simulator use Next Generation Control - Simulator - Multiboot procedure.

Danger:  MACHINES WITH APL.  Before you perform a clean install make sure you jog the AW-axis to a safe location.

IMPORTANT: PALLET POOL MACHINES:  Before you perform a clean install, Go to the Pallet Schedule Table and manually record the values on the table.

IMPORTANT: LATHES WITH BMT LIVE TOOLING:  Before you perform a clean install, remove the Live Tool Holders or after loading parameters verify the LT-Axis Spindle Orient Offset is set correctly.

NOTE: Take note of the following when replacing a Main Processor PCB:

Software releases before 100.17.000.2040 must NOT be loaded to main boards with part numbers ending in the following:

  • 32-4252B
  • 32-4253B

Software releases before 100.20.000.1200 must NOT be loaded to main boards with part numbers ending in the following:

  • 32-4256
  • 32-4257

Tools Required

  • Minimum of 4 GB USB Memory Device.
  • Haas Control Key
