This procedure should be referenced when replacing a Main Turret Shaft.

Clean the housing thoroughly. 

Grease locations highlighted in red with black moly grease (99-1792).

Install new main shaft and screw down.

Clean, re-grease (if needed) and reinstall the following items in order: 

1. The turret onto the main shaft
2. Spur gear
3. Cluster gear, three washers, and spring
4. Worm gear, motor mount, and coupler 

Clean and reinstall the following items:

1.  Turret servo motor
2.  Bearings
3.  Locknut, torque down at 100 ft-lbs using T-xxxx

Remove the turret and loosen all but two of the bolts holding the main shaft in place.

Remove the turret and loosen all bolts holding the main shaft in place. Tighten down two bolts across from each other, similar to the one highlighted in red. 

Use a dial indicator and sweep the housing OD to check the runout of the shaft. Adjust the shaft, using a pry bar, until the indicator reads ......... or less.  Tighten then torque all bolts to Haas specification. 

Reinstall the turret.

Reinstall the rear cover with new gasket.

Torque bolts down at 25 ft-lbs.

Slide the live tooling drive into the turret and torque bolts in a star pattern.

Install the indicator base on the live tool drive

Install the snap ring [2] on the torque tube.

Install the torque arm springs [1].

Refill the liquid grease through the top fitting hole on rear cover [2]. 

• If machine is equipped with the live tooling, fill the turret gearbox with 2 quarts of Haas Liquid Grease.
• If machine is not equipped with the live tooling, fill the turret gearbox with 3 quarts of the Haas Liquid Grease.

Install and enable the live tool and turret servo motors if equipped.

Install new???? fitting [1] into cover.

Install the following items in this order:

1. Install the key [1] from the torque tube.
2. Install a 3/8-16 bolt [2] in the jack screw hole next to the clamp bolt [3]. Apply just enough torque to spread the torque arm so it can slide on the torque tube.
3. Install the clamp screw [3], torque down at ........ and remove the jack screw [2].
4. Install the live drive motor mount.
5. Install the live drive motor.
6. The turret front cover and live drive alignment bracket.
