Student Competitions

Competitions offer technical education students and teams the opportunity to prove their knowledge and skills at the regional, national, and even world level. When HTEC member schools participate, they routinely place in the top levels at these competitions.

SkillsUSA: Champions at Work

SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers, and industry working together to build a highly skilled workforce to address the nation’s growing skills gap. The SkillsUSA framework provides students with personal, workplace, and technical skills, while building confidence and determination. Technical competitions at the local, state, national, and world level allow students to prove their skills against their peers.    

Haas Automation has been a proud sponsor of the SkillsUSA Championships since 2006, supporting the Precision Machining Competitions for CNC Milling Specialist, CNC Turning Specialist, and CNC Technician competitions

FIRST:

For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology

FIRST combines the excitement of sport with the rigors of science and technology. FIRST Robotics Competition is considered to be the ultimate sport for the mind. Under strict rules, with limited time and resources, teams of students are challenged to raise funds, design a team “brand,” hone teamwork skills, and build and program industrial-size robots to play a difficult field game against like-minded competitors.

FIRST offers 4 programs, for grades K-12.

Project MFG

Project MFG shines a light on the need and opportunities for skilled trades by focusing on the development of new talent to provide a path forward for individuals. Project MFG competitions promote the trades across industries and help advance the next generation of highly skilled trade professionals. As an integrated workforce development and recruitment effort, Project MFG collaborates across communities, the private sector, and governments to expand the industrial base workforce.
