Tool Check Stand Installation

Introduction

This procedure goes over how to set up the Tool Check Stand and the bolt hole pattern for mounting it.

This procedure applies to the following part numbers:

05-0288 TOOL CHECKING STATION, CT40/SK40 TAPER
05-0287 TOOL CHECKING STATION, BT40 TAPER

The only difference between these two part numbers is the included tool clamps that are attached in step 1 of this procedure.

Note: The tool holder and bearing are the same for both the BT40 and CT40 versions of the check stand. The tool clamps are sold separately and can be swapped if desired.

Required tools

1/4" hex bit.
mounting hardware (not included)

Attaching Tool Holder

Use a 1/4" hex bit to screw the two tool holder camps onto the check stand.

Example Installation

Note: If the intention is to use the check stand for precise measurements, the surface that the stand is mounted to should be roughly level and should not deform under the weight of the stand and tools. The tool stand weighs 22 lb (10 kg).

Use a bubble level to check the level of the mounting surface.

If the check stand will only be used for setting up tools checking the level is not necessary.

If you intend to mount the check stand, use the bolt pattern in to drill mounting holes.

The holes are in a rectangle 8" x 9.25".

The bolt holes in the check stand are 0.414" (10.5 mm). We suggest using either 3/8" or M10 bolts.

There is enough room at the mounting locations to support washers up to 1".

The image shows an example installation.

The hole pattern shown in step 1 was drilled into a plate, and the check stand was mounted using bolts [1], washers [2], and nuts [3].

If the check stand is going to be used for precise measurements, its level should be checked this can be done with a bubble level. If it is not level, then adjust the torque or add shims between the check stand and the mounting surface [1].
