Renishaw Probe – WIPS-RF - Pairing Process

RD0053

Revision A - 05/2025

Introduction

This procedure shows how to pair the RMP40 and RTS probes with the RMI-QE interface.

  • Load the pairing program onto the machine.
  • Insert the batteries in the probe. If they have already been installed, remove them for five seconds and then reinstall them.
  • The LED check will flash: red, red, green, green, blue, blue or red, green, blue.
  • The probe will then show the probe settings and end with the "Battery Status". If the battery power is good, the battery status will be eight green flashes. If the battery power is low, each green flash will be followed by a blue flash.
  • While the "Battery Status" is being displayed, deflect and then release the stylus.
  • Press [CYCLE START] to run the pairing program, once the stylus has been triggered, to run the O09601 RMP40 or O09602 RTS program.
  • The probe will display a series of cyan lights followed by a long yellow light when the probe and the RMI-QE are ready to pair.
  • Deflect the probe stylus for less than four seconds after the long yellow flash.
  • A successful pairing is indicated by a cyan, cyan, green flash. The probe will timeout after 20 seconds and then go into standby mode.
  • If the "Partnering mode on" is not selected, the probe will time out after 120 seconds and will go into standby mode. The process will need to be repeated to pair the probe to the RMI-QE.

For machines with NGC software before 100.21.000.1100, that did not come with WIPS installed, contact your HFO to update to the latest software and get the latest configuration file.

For machines with the NGC software 100.21.000.1100 and higher, that did not come with WIPS installed, contact your HFO to get the latest configuration file.

Note: WIPS - RF requires Renishaw version V3.33 or higher.
