Scinomix provides laboratory automation solutions to customers in the Life Science Industry. The initial creation of the company is rooted in our passion to create customized solutions for labs, which evolved over the last 20 years into a standard product line that can be configured to meet individual customer needs. Currently, we meet a strong niche-market need for labeling tubes, vials, and plates in many life science applications.

Over the years, we have experienced extensive growth, and we are excited to be expanding our brand worldwide. Scinomix started out by providing custom solutions for labs. This consisted of customized machines for a variety of applications, including cell biology and liquid handling. In cell biology: customized machines for cell growth, cell lysis, and cell harvesting. In liquid handling: customized systems for media filling machines (agar, diet, etc.), petri dishes, micro-plates, tubes/vials, urinalysis, excipient mixer, and high throughput filling.

Over the years, through developing custom projects, it was clear there was a need for automated tube and microplate labelers in labs. In 2009, the first Sci-Print MP2 was sold. The Sci-Print MP2 is a semi-automated microplate labeler that prints and applies labels onto a variety of microtiter plates for sample tracking. One year later, the first automated vial labelers were sold: the Sci-Print VX2 (fully-automated tube labeler) and the Sci-Print SOLO (semi-automated tube labeler). From this point on, developing a standard line of automated vial and plate labelers became the main focus.

Scinomix has recently expanded its reach globally. Plans for the future are to maintain and continue that growth. Innovation and creativity continue to play a strong role in our vision for the future. From the beginning, our mission has always been to provide solutions for customers, and that will always be the driving force behind Scinomix.

Haas as Part of Our Success

● We use Haas VMCs to produce nearly all of our CNC machined components. Currently, we use four Haas VF-4s to do the majority of our production machining.

●  The reliability, affordability, and familiarity of the Haas machines are what have had the largest impact on our machining process. We rarely have downtime, and when we do, it usually isn’t very long. Most machinists in our area are familiar with Haas machines, which definitely helps during the hiring process.

● The Haas Wireless Intuitive Probing System, in conjunction with the Haas control, would have to be my favorite solution Haas has provided us. Setting tool and work offsets is a breeze, and easy to teach people to do, especially compared to other systems lacking a quality GUI.

● The first VMC Scinomix purchased was a 1996 Haas VF-2. That machine is still here today, working as an engineering/R&D machine. As the company has grown, we’ve continued to purchase Haas machines, and we would like to add a Haas CNC lathe to our shop soon.

Haas Testimonial From Scinomix

Haas VMCs are central to our manufacturing process at Scinomix. Even our R&D uses an old VF-2 – our first Haas purchase, for rapid prototyping and design changes. Being in the laboratory automation industry during COVID-19 led to the busiest year we’ve ever had. We supply our customers with automation for their tube, vial, and plate labeling processes. Our Haas mills became busier than ever, as did everyone here at Scinomix.

All of our machines used in production are Haas VF-4s, with a 40+1 tool changer, Wireless Intuitive Probing, and 12,000-rpm+ spindles. This streamlines our programming and setup processes such that any program we create or run can be used with any machine on our shop floor. Our machines are in use about 14 hours a day, and it has been more than a year since we’ve had downtime from a machine needing repair. It’s this reliability that makes Haas machines the most effective CNC machining solution for our business.
