Chapman Manufacturing was established in 1988 in Christchurch, New Zealand, and has been a family owned and operated business for more than 30 years. The company produces a multitude of products for their clients, across various industries, such as food processing, dairy, and more.
“We are at the forefront of the engineering industry, supporting leading brands within New Zealand with our products,” explains Chris Chapman, owner of Chapman Manufacturing. “We can manufacture and fabricate parts from the very small to large,” he says. “Our services include design and build, repairs and maintenance on plant and equipment, CNC machining, and welding, to name a few.”
The company purchased its first Haas machine in 2016: a VF-2 vertical machining center. “We’d moved away from a previous [machine tool] supplier,” says Chris, adding that he was attracted to the Haas for the quality and function of the machine, as well as the after-sale service provided by the local Haas Factory Outlet.
“The VF-2 has performed exceptionally,” Chris says, allowing Chapman Manufacturing to produce parts faster, more accurately, and with better surface finishes. “But it’s not just the machinery side of things,” he adds, “the after-sale service side of things is exceptional. Having a Haas service agent in Christchurch makes a massive difference.”

And one that has flourished. When Chapman Manufacturing needed to upgrade their workshop with additional equipment, the decision to go with Haas was an easy one. They expanded their capabilities with a Haas ST-25Y Y-axis turning center and a Haas Bar Feeder.
Investing in Haas machinery, Chris explains, has taken Chapman Manufacturing to greater heights; and their close relationship with the local HFO gives him peace of mind that, if something does go wrong, the solution is just a phone call away.
