This chapter will walk through the process of installing the HAAS Cold Saw - 80. This proceedure includes unpacking, leveling, powering up, and anchoring. 

Refer to Chapter 5 - Maintenance for more information on how to install a new blade or to refill the machine with oil. 

Tools Required: 

• 12mm Hex Socket
• 19mm, 22mm, 24mm Socket Wrench
• Block Level

The machine will come wrapped in several layers. Unravel the plastic wrap around the machine and remove the tarps overtop the machine. 

Unwrap the chip conveyor chute and parts chute. 

Cut the shipping straps for the chip bucket and remove from the machine. Note the contents inside of the bucket. 

Install the leveling feet prior to removing the machine off the shipping pallet. 

If using a forklift, locate the lifting points as indicated by the stickers. Pick up the machine from the front using a forklift with a minimum capacity of 8,000 lbs (3,630kg) and minimum fork length of 60 inches (152 cm). 

Place the machine onto the provided leveling pucks at a height of 1 inch (25.4 cm), measured from the floor to the bottom of the casting foot. 

Ensure the main breaker is [OFF].

Open the main breaker door, locate the main power terminal, and remove the plastic cover [1]. 

Caution: Ensure the pigtail is disconnected from any power source prior to machine installation.

Route the pigtail through the opening to the main power terminal and securely connect the cables as shown using a Phillips #3 screwdriver.

 Important: Ensure the ground cable is connected to the proper terminal [2]. 

After the line voltage is connected to the machine, make sure that main breaker is [OFF]. Turn on the power at the source. Measure the voltage between all three pair phases at the main circuit breaker and write down the readings. The voltage must be between 195 and 260V.

Turn the main breaker [ON] and power up the machine.

Release the [EMERGENCY STOP] and check for Alarm Code 6300.

Note: If Alarm 6300 is present, the power phasing is incorrect at the main breaker. Turn the breaker [OFF] and disconnect power from the pigtail. Swap line [3] and line [4] at the breaker and reconnect the machine. 

Proceed once Alarm 6300 is no longer present. 

Locate and rasie the leveling feet [2], [4], and [6] till the feet are no longer in contact with the floor puck. Ensure that feet [1], [3], and [5] are in contact with the floor.

In the HMI, switch the machine into [Manual] mode and move the rear vise forward all the way towards the saw blade to make room for the level.

Towards the rear of the machine, locate the two cylindrical guides [1]. Place the block level [2] across both cylindrical guides (along the X-axis) at a distance of 22 inches (56 cm) away from the reference point [3].

Raise or lower leveling foot #3 until the bubble is centered.

Place the leveling block [2] on the rear vise guide rail [1] as demonstrated at a distance of 22 inches (56 cm) as shown [3]. Ensure the block level is balanced along the X-axis prior to leveling the Y-axis.

Raise or lower leveling foot #5 until the bubble is centered.

Note: The best practice for this step is to use a bubble level with either a magnetic base or a V-groove base. 

After the machine is leveled, touch down the leveling feet and lock the leveling screws. Anchor the machine and verify the machine remained level.
