5.2 - HCS - Blade Replacement

Introduction

The following chapter will provide a guided walk-through of the removal and installation of the circular blade of the HCS-80 Haas Cold Saw.

Caution: Handling the saw blade presents a laceration hazard. Use cut-resistant gloves and maintain proper grip to prevent injury.

Tools needed:

  • 12mm Allen Socket/Wrench
  • 6mm Allen Socket/Wrench
  • Cut-resistant gloves
  • Cleaning wipes

Blade Replacement

Press [EMERGENCY STOP] and power [OFF] the machine.

Open the front door and locate the saw blade access door. 

Remove 4x M8 bolts from the access door.

Open the saw blade access door.

Open the blade access door and remove the M14 blade locking bolt [1].

Note: The blade may spin freely during the removal or installation of the blade locking bolt. This can be addressed by gripping the saw blade with cut resistant gloves to counter the blade rotation. 

Caution: Handling the saw blade presents a laceration hazard. Use cut-resistant gloves and maintain proper grip to prevent injury.

Remove the center disk and saw blade.

Wipe both sides of the blade interface [1] and the machine mounting surfaces with a clean towel. 

Note: When selecting a blade; ensure to chose correct blade type for the application. 

Install the blade with the teeth facing down towards the cutting area as shown [2]. 

Important: Prior to tightening the blade in place, clock the blade counter-clockwise. When tightening, ensure the blade remains clocked.

Repeat step #2 in reverse order. Torque the blade locking bolt to 40 ft-lbs.

Repeat Step #1 in reverse order. Tighten the blade access door.
