This rotary-axis calibration tool simplifies the process of setting your machine’s rotary zero point (MRZP) offsets, which are used by the Dynamic Work Offsets/Tool Center Point Control (DWO/TCPC) option to make 4- and 5-axis setup and calibration easier. MRZP is a set of control parameters that define the centers of rotation for the rotary axes relative to the home positions of the linear axes. Note: The taper of the master gauge-length tool will match the taper of the machine for which the option is ordered.

Overview

The Rotary-Axis Calibration Tool Kit simplifies the process of setting your Machine Rotary Zero Point (MRZP) offsets, which are used by the Dynamic Work Offsets/Tool Center Point Control (DWO/TCPC) option to make 4- and 5-axis setup easier. MRZP is a set of control settings that define the centers of rotation for the rotary axes relative to the home positions of the linear axes.

Requirements

The Rotary Axis Calibration Tool Kit is designed for use with a probe system to find the Machine Rotary Zero Point (MRZP) offsets, therefore the requirements are:

  • Wireless Intuitive Probing System
  • Macros
  • Spindle Orientation
  • Coordinate Rotation and Scaling
  • Visual Programming System
  • Dynamic Work Offsets/Tool Center Point Control (DWO/TCPC)

The Rotary Axis Calibration Tool Kit is included with the DWO/TCPC option, or you can purchase it separately. Note: The taper of the master gauge-length tool will match the taper of the machine for which the option is ordered.

What’s Included

The probe system must be accurately calibrated to achieve the best results. This kit includes a precision-ground and -measured gauge-length calibration tool for use when calibrating the probe system.

The kit also includes a precision-ground calibration sphere (tooling ball), and all the mounting hardware needed to attach the tooling ball to any Haas rotary product, with the exception of the HRTA5 and HRTA6. For these models, the tooling ball must be held in the workholding attached to the HRTA5 of HRTA6.

Operations

  • Use the gauge-length calibration tool every time you calibrate the probe system.
  • Always use the length and diameter printed on the tool when calibrating the probe system in VPS.
  • Be sure to reset all tool and work offsets after calibrating the probe system. This includes finding and resetting the machine rotary zero point (MRZP) offsets.
