This procedure will show how to add the Chip Conveyor Drain Pan Spillway Extension on an UMC - 750/1000/1250/1500/SS.

The kits come with two major components that helps reduce chips from accumulating between the chip conveyor and base casting spillway. The components are as follows:

1. The Left and Right Adapter Brackets
2. The Conveyor Drain Pan Extension

Important: It is crucial to select the right kit for the corresponding UMC - 750/1000/1500/SS built date.

This document applies to these following kits:

Machines built before 04/29/2022 will order the following kit (top photo):

• 93-3937: S1 CHIP EVAC KIT SHORT SPILL UMC-750/1000/1500

Machines built before 12/01/2023 and after 04/29/2022 will order the following kit (top photo):

• 93-3938: S1 CHIP EVAC KIT LONG SPILL UMC-750/1000/1500

UMC-1250 extended spillway kit before 03/21/2025 (bottom photo):

• 93-4849: CHIP EVAC KIT LONG SPILL UMC-1250

Note: The images in this procedure are for an UMC - 750/SS, but the same steps will apply for an UMC - 1000/1500/SS. Differences in the UMC-1250 kit will be defined where necessary

Remove the bolts attaching the conveyor to the enclosure [1].

Pull out the conveyor far enough so that the extension panel can be removed and the mating brackets are exposed. 

Remove the extension panel from the conveyor. It should start falling out when the conveyor is pulled out. 

Remove bolts [1] to remove the left and the right adapter bracket [2] from the Chip Conveyor Funnel Enclosure.

UMC - 750/1000/1250/1500/SS:

Install Left Adapter Bracket and Right Adapter Bracket [1] provided in the kit using ¼ - 20 bolts [2] to the Chip Conveyor Funnel Enclosure.

UMC-1250:

The left and right adapter brackets will have to be assembled before installation.

The front [4] and rear [5] brackets must be fastened to each other as shown with the provided ¼-20 [3] bolts provided in the service kit.

The installation of the brackets on to the machine follows the same procedure as above.

Once the left and right adapter brackets have been replaced, push the conveyor back inside the machine.

Reinstall the bolts attaching the conveyor to the enclosure [1].

Slide Drain Pan Spillway [1] until it is up against the spillway such that the bolts [2] added in step 7 are in the slots of the left and right Adapter Bracket [3].

UMC - 750/1000/1500/SS:

Tighten bottom bolt [1] first for easier installation followed by the top bolt [2]. This should be done on both sides of the drain pan.

With the bolts attaching the adapter brackets to the enclosure lightly tightened, Align the coolant tank chip pan with respect to the spill way. Tightly fasten the adapter brackets to the enclosure when complete.

UMC-1250:

With the twelve bolts lightly tightened, align the drain pan to the machine’s spillway.

Align the coolant tank chip pan with respect to the spill way. Tighten the upper bolts [5] on both sides.

The edge of the drain pan [3] must be aligned just below the spillway edge [4] to allow for adequate chip flow but not below the end of the casting. Tighten the middle set of bolts [6] on both sides.

The lower flange of the drain pan should be in contact with the base’s spillway. Tighten the lowest set of bolts [7] on both sides.
