DUAL-PALLET CAPABILITY

The pallet-changing capability of the Haas VC-400 and VC-400SS allows you to machine parts on one pallet while loading/unloading parts on the other, boosting throughput and minimizing non-cutting time. Run the same job on both pallets for high-volume production, or set up different jobs on each pallet for more flexibility. You can even run a single-axis rotary on each pallet for 4-axis production.

SPINDLES

The VC Series machines feature the same powerful, shop-proven, Haas-built spindle that comes standard on most Haas vertical machining centers. It is a 40-taper, inline direct-drive spindle, coupled directly to the motor to provide excellent surface finishes and greater thermal stability. The inline spindle is available in speeds up to 15,000-rpm, as well as HSK-A63 taper. 

SIDE-MOUNT TOOL CHANGER

The VC-400 and VC-400SS come standard with a 30+1 toolside-mount tool changer. This Haas side-mount tool changer features a servo-driven carousel that allows direct positioning to any tool in the carousel – no more indexing one pocket at a time. Faster positioning reduces cycle times during short machining operations, or when the carousel is not pre-staged for the next tool.

AUTOMATIC PROBE RISER

An automatic probe arm stores the tool setting probe in a protective compartment during machining operations. When the tool probe is needed, an M104 code activates the automatic probe arm to lift the probe and lock it into place. When probing is complete, an M105 retracts the probe to its protective compartment.

CHIP & COOLANT MANAGEMENT

At the heart of the VC-400’s chip management system is a wide belt-type chip conveyor positioned in the center of the machine, directly under the spindle. The steep walls of the interior enclosure easily funnel chips to the conveyor. The conveyor discharges chips at the height of a full-size industrial barrel. Washdown nozzles mounted in the ceiling are fed by a separate coolant pump, and allow you to direct coolant flow to areas where chips may gather, to further enhance chip evacuation. 

THE HAAS CONTROL

Ease of use and simplicity are the founding principles of the Haas Control. Designed and built exclusively by Haas since its inception in 1988, the Haas Control is the standard by which all other controls are measured. Commonality between vertical machining centers, horizontal machining centers, and turning centers ensures that operators can easily move from one Haas machine to another. Continued advancement of the Haas Control – with powerful features like power-failure detection, Ethernet connectivity, Dynamic Work Offsets, and HaasConnect remote machine monitoring – allows customers to maximize their investment in a Haas machine.

VC-400 CUTTING DEMO

The VC-400 is Haas' new pallet-changing vertical. We shot this demo while preparing for our 2020 HaasTec week-long live streaming event. The VC-400 combines the versatility and familiarity of our smaller VF machines with the pallet-changing ability of our EC-400 HMC. The fully-integrated pallet changer allows you to set up jobs on one pallet, while running parts on the other pallet so your spindle never stops turning.

THE HAAS VC-400 AND PALLET POOL

The VC-400 combines the versatility of our small VF Series vertical machining centers with the pallet-changing ability of our EC-400 HMC. The fully integrated pallet changer allows you to set up jobs on one pallet, while you’re running parts on another pallet. Here we show our 6-Station Pallet Pool coupled with the VC-400 for true “lights out” capability. The 6-station Pallet Pool is perfect for high-volume production runs, or high-mix/low-volume machining. The 22" x 14.5" pallets can be scheduled individually according to priority and sequencing requirements, allowing high-priority parts to be machined first or staged more often.
