Drawtube Removal Tool

Note: Confirm the ID of the Drawtube and Hydraulic union. The ID of each may vary depending on the build date or the spindle option.

Required Tooling:

  • 2 x          Drawtube Removal Tool
  • 2 x          ½” drive 1-1/8” Impact Socket
  • 1 x          ¾”-> ½” Socket Adapter
  • 1 x          Air Impact Wrench
  • 1 x          Breaker Bar ¾” Drive 3-4ft Long
  • 1 x          Blow Torch

Drawtube Removal

Remove the sensor ring cover[1].

Loosen the sensor ring clamp screws[2] so the sensor ring[3] is free to be removed from the Hydraulic Union Piston.

The hardware for the tool has left-hand threads. Turning the hardware in the Counter-Clockwise direction[1] tightens the hardware. The tool expands, increasing the OD of the tool, clamping onto the Drawtube or Hydraulic Union Piston.

Turning the hardware in the Clockwise direction[2] loosens the hardware, causing the tool to retract to its smallest OD.

Note: Apply Anti-Seize Lubricant to both faces of the washer and the threads of the bolt and nut.

Install the correct size Drawtube Removal tool into both the Hydraulic Union Piston and Chuck End of the Drawtube so the tool is flush with the end of the Piston and Drawtube.

Tighten the tool hardware until the tool clamps onto the ID of both the Hydraulic Union Piston and Drawtube.

Use the breaker bar on the tool installed to the Hydraulic Union Piston and the Air Impact Wrench on the tool installed to the Drawtube.

Use the Air Impact Wrench to unscrew the Drawtube from the Hydraulic Union.

Note: If the Drawtube does not unscrew from the Hydraulic Union. Use a blow torch to apply localized heat to the joint between the Drawtube and Hydraulic Union to soften the loctite. Wait for the Drawtube and Hydraulic Union to cool before removing the Drawtube.
