Convenience Package - Installation - Mill

Introduction

This procedure tells you how to install the mill Convenience Package. The Convenience Package comes in a box inside the mill enclosure. Install the Convenience Package during the mill installation. This procedure is for these kits:

  1. Convenience Package 30-taper
  2. Convenience Package 40-taper 
  3. Convenience Package 50-taper 

This procedure is applicable to several different kits. You use only (1) of the kits from this list based on the machine model:

Note: This procedure is compatible for all kits updated after June 2020.

Convenience Package - Installation - Mill

Connect the writing table [1] to the bottom shelf [2]. Use (4) 1/4-20 Flanged Button Head Cap Screws (FBHCS) [3].

Install the writing table [1] and bottom shelf [2] to the enclosure [3]. Use (8) 5/16-18 Button Head Cap Screws (BHCS) [4].

IMPORTANT: FOR DC-1 AND DC-2 MACHINES - Check the 8 BHCS fasteners [4] for blue loctite. Add a drop of blue loctite if needed before mounting the writing table to the machine enclosure.

Install the tool vise [1]. Use (4) 1/4-20 Socket Head Cap Screws (SHCS) [2] and (4) washers.

IMPORTANT: FOR DC-1 AND DC-2 MACHINES - If there is an insufficient amount of blue loctite on the 4 SHCS [2] add a drop of blue loctite before mounting the tool vise [1] to the side of the enclosure. 

Install the tool holder tray [3]. Use (4) 5/16-18 BHCS [4] to mount the tray to the enclosure [5].

IMPORTANT: FOR DC-1 AND DC-2 MACHINES - Check the 4 BHCS [4] for blue loctite. Add a drop if needed before mounting the tool holder tray to the enclosure [5].

 

Swap Drawer Tray

The convenience kits listed in the introduction and older convenience packages that have the upgraded Writing Table detailed in the section above, can swap out the standard tray [1] in drawer with the following options:

09-0171 [2]: Tool Organizer Tray

09-0172 [3]: ER/5C Collet Holder

To replace the standard tray, remove the 4 FBHCS [1] and the 2 BHCS [3] located at the front of the tray with the drawer fully extended so that you can remove the tray [2] from the drawer.

Fasten the new organizer option to the drawer [1] using the same 4 FBHCS [2] and BHCS [3] from the previous step.

 

NOTE: The organizer option pictured is the Collet Holder. The Tool Organizer option is installed the same way.

Spindle Wiper

Spindle wipers are used to clean out the spindle.

Hold the spindle wiper [1] by the handle to insert and twist it in the spindle [2] to clean it out.
