MRZP WIPS Offset Settings - UMC-750 - CHC

Calibrate WIPS

Calibrate the probe, refer to Wireless Intuitive Probe System (WIPS) Calibration.

Even if the WIPS screens show that calibration is complete, calibrate it again.

This makes sure accuracy to the machine's current position is correct.

Put the work probe in the spindle.

Zero return all axes.

From the VQC tab select MRZP SET and then FINISH MRZP SET.

Set the MRZP Offset Parameters

Put a tooling ball [2] attached to a magnetic base along the X Axis, near the edge of the table.

Move the position of the base so the ball arm is at a 45 degree angle to the T-slots.

Make sure that the tooling ball [2] is tightly attached to the magnetic base and that the magnetic base is flat on the platter surface.

Jog the Z Axis until the probe tip [1] is 0.1" (2.54 mm) above and centered over the tooling ball [2].

Enter the tooling ball [2] diameter.

Choose Output to MDI and start the program in MDI.

The probe will measure multiple positions on the B and C axis at different degrees. The program then places values in macro variables 106, 107, and 108. Record the values for macro variables 106 through 108.

Update the values below:

  • Macro variable 106 corresponds to Parameter 1306.
  • Macro variable 107 corresponds to Parameter 1307.
  • Macro variable 108 corresponds to Parameter 1308.

 Note: If for any reason you think the numbers were entered incorrectly, run the FINISH MRZP SET program again. Your resulting macro variable values must be within five counts of the parameter numbers.
