Auto Air Jet Blast - Installation

Introduction

This procedure tells you how to install the Auto Air Jet Blast (AJB) option on machines with a Classic Haas Control built after May 2013 or an NGC Lathe.  For Sub-Spindle Air Blast refer to Sub-Spindle Air Blast - Installation - AD0517 procedure.

This procedure applies to the following kits:

  • 93-2202 OPTION,  AUTO JET BLAST (ST20 - 35/DS-30Y) - CHC
  • 93-1000273 AUTO JET BLAST - NGC
  • 93-1000272 OPTION, AUTO JET BLAST (DS-30Y Non-Reboot) - NGC

NOTE: Kit 93-1000272 includes installation hardware for both main spindle and sub-spindle Auto Air Jet Blast configurations.

For 93-1000272 and 93-1000273 kits ordered before Nov 12, 2023, the following parts need to be purchased:

  • 58-1677 FITG NPT1/4 X DIA .750 BKHD BRASS    QTY: 1
  • 58-0567 FITG PC3/8F NPT1/4M STR STL     QTY: 1

NOTE: For Reboot DS-30Y sub-spindle auto air jet blast, refer to  Sub-Spindle Air Blast - Installation - AD0517 procedure.

AJB - Installation

Push [POWER OFF].

Set the main circuit breaker to the [OFF] position.

 Danger: Lock the main circuit breaker. Use an approved lock with an approved safety tag.

Close the primary air valve. This stops the air supply to the machine.

Remove the plug [1] from the jet blast port on the main spindle.

Install the compression fitting [2] in the main spindle jet blast port.

Install the blast nozzle [3] into the compression fitting [2].

Route the air hose from the compression fitting into the lubrication cabinet

For machines built after 04/03/2019

Remove the plug from the bulkhead next to the main spindle.

Install the bulkhead fitting [1] to the bulkhead the blast nozzle fitting [2] then the blast nozzle [3].

Note : Install the push to connect fitting on the back side of the bulkhead fitting [1] then connect the provided air hose and route it to the lube cabinet.

Put the red cable ties on the main spindle solenoid assembly.

Refer to the Air-Lube System decal inside the lubrication cabinet for correct solenoid placement.

Remove the fourth plug [1] from the bottom of the air distribution manifold.

Install the compression fitting [2] into of the air distribution manifold.

Install the AJB solenoid [3] with the red cable ties to the air distribution manifold. Tighten the nut on the compression fitting. Make sure the solenoid aligns with the other solenoids.

Connect the AJB solenoid cable to the electrical connector labeled "Main Spindle Auto Jet Blast".

Make sure the color of the cable tie and the color of the label are the same.

Set the main circuit breaker to the ON position.

Push [POWER ON].

NGC - Machines

Test - AJB

Open the primary air valve. This supplies air to the machine.

Test the AJB:

  • M12: Main Spindle Air Jet Blast ON
  • M13: Main Spindle Air Jet Blast OFF

DS Machines:

  • M112: Secondary Spindle Air Jet Blast ON
  • M113: Secondary Spindle Air Jet Blast OFF
