IMX6 Carrier Board - Replacement

Introduction

This procedure will show you how to replace IMX6 carrier board inside your Haas machine.

This board is used on:

  • 15" monitor simulators 
  • Desktop Mills
  • Desktop Lathes 
  • SR machines

This procedure should apply to the follow service kits:

  • 93-5704: SVC IMX6 CARRIER ASSY

Note: The minimum required software version for the IMX6 carrier board is 100.24.000.1600.

Replacing IMX6 Carrier Board

 Caution: When you do maintenance or repair on CNC machines and their components, you must always follow basic safety precautions. This decreases the risk of injury and mechanical damage.

  • Set the main circuit breaker to the [OFF] position.

 Danger: Before beginning any work inside the control cabinet the High Voltage indicator light on the 320V Power Supply / Vector Drive must have been off for at least 5 minutes.

Some service procedures can be dangerous or life-threatening. DO NOT attempt a procedure that you do not fully understand. If you have any doubts about doing a procedure contact your Haas Factory Outlet (HFO) and schedule a service visit.

Remove the back panel [1] of the pendant by unscrewing the eight bolts [2].

Disconnect all the cables going to the IMX6 carrier board [1].

Remove the old IMX6 carrier board [1] from inside of the pendant by unscrewing the four bolts [2] in the corners of the carrier board

Replace the original IMX6 carrier with the new IMX6 carrier board from the replacement kit [1]. Reuse the same screws as before [2] to mount it to the enclosure subplate.

Connect cable 33-8298B (CBL 22.5" DISP DATA LCD TO SBC-A62J PCB) [1] to the 15" LCD screen Display Data Port and to J20 on the IMX6 carrier board.

Connect cable 79-0194 (CABLE RJ45 SHIELDED TWISTED PAIR 2FT) [2] to J28 on the SKBIF and the other end to J3 on the IMX6 carrier board.

Connect cable 33-1496 (CBL DSKTP PCB +12V PWR 2.0FT) [3] to P3 on the PCM board and J15 on the IMX6 carrier board.

Connect cable 33-1474 (CBL PWR IMX8 CARRIER) [4] to J2 on the PCM board and J19 on the IMX6 carrier board.

Connect cable 33-1475 (CBL PCM PWR DWN TO IMX8 CRR) [5] to P2 on the PCM board and J11 on the IMX6 carrier board.

The USB extention cable, 79-2000, connects to the right USB port, J5, on the IMX6 carrier board. 

The ethernet port cable, 79-0091, connects to the top ethernet port, J9, on the IMX6 carrier board.
