This procedure details how to replace the door wipers on ST-10, 20 and 30 Series lathes.

Push [POWER OFF].

Set the main circuit breaker to the OFF position.

Lock the main circuit breaker.

Use an approved lock with an approved safety tag.

Remove the bottom roller cover from the inside of the door.

Remove the top wiper assembly for the door.

Before you do this step, hold the door.

This makes sure the door does not fall.

If necessary, get the aid of another person.

Remove the upper door track.

Carefully remove the door.

If you upgrade the operator door on an ST-10 lathe built before September, 2013 with a new style door [2] (P/N 30-5704B, or 30-5706B with a parts catcher), you will need to modify the bulkhead to allow the new door to fit.

This procedure tells you how to modify the bulkhead.

 Note: Parts catcher equipped doors are shown in the illustration.

Prerequisites:

• P/N 30-5704B No PCAT Door Assembly, ST-10 or 30-5076B PCAT Door Assembly, ST-10
• P/N 93-2114 Non-PCAT Door Liner/Felt Service Kit, ST-10 or 93-2115 PCAT Door Liner/Felt Service Kit, ST-10

Print out the template so that the measurements match those in the table below.

• A: 2.287" (58.09 mm)
  
• B: 45 degrees
  
• C: 5 degrees
  
• D: 0.4375" (11.112 mm )
  
• E: 2.10" (54.340 mm)
  
• F: 95 degrees
  

 Warning: Make sure that the printed image of the template matches these dimensions EXACTLY. You may need to adjust the settings of your printer to get the final image to the proper size.

Place the template against the upper left bulkhead of the ST-10.

Cut the corner of the bulkhead to match the template.

 Caution: Make sure to keep the cut shallow so as not to strike the flange behind the bulkhead face. Damage to the cutting device could result from striking the flange with the cutting blade.

Remove the (24) button head cap screws (BHCS) from the door liner.

Remove the upper and lower door liners.

Clean the door. Make sure to remove all traces of the previous sealant.

Apply sealant to each of the door liner mounting surfaces.

Install the upper and lower door liner panels.

Attach the panels with (24) FHPS screws, included in the wiper kit.

Slide the top wiper base bar over the bulkhead edge. Secure with 8-32x3/8" socket head cap screws (SHCS). (ST-20 shown).

Assemble the lower door wiper using (3) 10-32x3/8" button head cap screws BHCS and #10 washers.

Install the lower door wiper assembly to the bulkhead edge using (2) 8-32x5/8" SHCS and #8 washers.

Install the (2) upper felt wipers over the Pemnuts in the wiper base (ST-20 shown).

Install the upper wiper retainer and secure it with 10-32x3/8" BHCS and #10 washers (ST-20 shown).

Clean all chips from the door tracks.

Install the operator door.

Install the upper door track.

Install the assembly for the inner door wiper.

Install the bottom roller cover on the inside of the door.

Make sure the full length of the felt touches the door equally.

Loosen the screws to adjust the felt.

Do this for each wiper.

This lets the door move smoothly.

Set the main circuit breaker to the ON position.

Push [POWER ON].
