Mechanical Plugs -39/100 in must be modified to plug lathe turret IN and OUT ports.

Cut the bolt of 2x plugs down to a length of 1.2" [1].

Use a belt grinder to reduce the diameter of the coolant IN plug to .36“ [2].

Use a belt grinder to reduce the diameter of the coolant OUT plug to .30" [3].

Reassemble both plugs. Use a belt grinder to taper the bottom of the rubber tube of the coolant OUT port plug [1].

Coolant Out Port [1].

Front Port [2].

Side Port [3]. 

Coolant In Port [4].

Install 1/8 NPT plug into front port of the leaky pocket [1].

Apply a thin layer of red grease to each rubber plug [2] [3].

Install the small diameter rubber plug into the coolant OUT port [4] and tighten wingnut finger tight.

Install the large diameter rubber plug into the coolant IN port [5] and tighten wingnut finger tight.

Spray acetone into the cross drilled hole network until it is flooded [1].

Install 1/8 NPT to Push-To-Connect adapter into turret side port [2].

Install hand pump and pressurize cross drilled hole network. Maintain pressure until acetone weeping from porosity is visible.

Remove 1/8 NPT plug from turret front port and blow out acetone with shop air.

Reinstall 1/8 NPT plug into turret front port and pressurize with the hand pump until all acetone is pushed out of the porosity.

Remove 1/8 NPT plug from turret front port [1].

Pour the sealant into the turret side port until it almost reaches the turret front port, approximately 0.68 oz (20 mL) of sealant [2].

Reinstall the 1/8 NPT into the turret front port.

Continue to fill the turret side port with sealant until the cross drilled hole network is flooded [3].

Install the 1/8 NPT to Push-To-Connect adapter [4].

Use the hand pump to pressurize the cross drilled hole network to 30 PSI.

Once sealant is observed weeping from porosity maintain pressure for 1 min.

Remove 1/8 NPT to Push-To-Connect adapter.

Turn turret on its side so that the turret front port is over a bucket [1].

Remove turret front port 1/8 NPT plug [2] and blow out excess sealant into bucket [3].

Use a shop rag to clean sealant out of turret front and side port NPT threads and remove rubber plugs from coolant in and out ports [4].

Clean the 1/8 NPT to Push-To-Connect adapter with acetone to remove sealant residue.

Allow turret to cure for the time specified of the sealant used before performing air pressure leak test.
