Why Use a Parts Catcher?

Our two-stage automatic parts catcher moves completely out of the primary work envelope during machining, and quickly moves into place when commanded during the part-off operation. For parts with short cycle times, the arm can be left in the extended position, with only the tray rotating up to catch parts during the part-off operation.

M36 – Parts Catcher On

• This M-code fully extends the parts catcher toward the chuck, and rotates the parts catcher chute up to catch the part. The parts catcher chute will only rotate up if the parts catcher is already extended.

M37 – Parts Catcher Off

• This M-code rotates the parts catcher chute down, and fully retracts the parts catcher to its stowed position.

M35 – Parts Catcher Rotate

• This M-code rotates the parts catcher chute down, but leaves the parts catcher in its extended position, with the chute ready to rotate up to catch the next part. This expedites production of parts with short cycle times.

The above commands can also be executed manually from the Haas control, using the Device Manager.

The rotation height of the parts catcher chute is adjusted using a simple bolt-and-locknut system. The required height will vary, depending on the workholding. The adjustment allows the use of the standard chuck, as well as aftermarket collets or jaws.

• Rotate the bolt clockwise to push the chute away from the spindle centerline 
• Rotate the bolt counterclockwise to bring the chute closer to the spindle centerline

The location of the parts catcher chute closer to or farther away from the workholding is adjusted using a single bolt. Loosening the bolt allows 4" (100 mm) of lateral adjustment.    

Large Parts Catching Bin

• Collects finished parts while the machine is running
• Large bin size allows for extended operation
• Parts can be retrieved for inspection, without stopping the machine

Field-install kits are available through your local Haas Factory Outlet (HFO). They require software version 100.18.000.1020 or higher. Verify the part numbers below with the Parts Department before ordering.
