Diagnostic Data Collection - Instructions

- Jump to Section - 1. Introduction 2. Load Data Collect File (4 steps) 3. Servo Motor Current Data Collection Program Set Up (4 steps) Back to Top

Introduction

This procedure will show you how to load a XML data collection file to the control.  There are different data collection files,  these are used to capture diagnostic data that can be used by the service department to identify the problem with the machine.

Machine Requirements:

  • 100.20.000.1000 Software Version or higher.

Tools Needed:

  • USB Device
  • The data collection XML file.
Note: This XML file can be obtained from your HFO.  On HBC site go to Service > Documents & Software > 10_Service Tools > Diagnostic Data Collection. You must right click on the XML file and select “SAVE LINK AS” to download the file.

Load Data Collect File

Diagnostic Data Collection File Used For
Auto Door Data Collection This file is used to analyze the Auto Door motor performance.  It measures the current output of the AD motor.
Chip Conveyor Overcurrent Data Collection This file is used to capture chip conveyor current data to troubleshoot chip conveyor obstructions. It captures Analog Input 33 Chip Conveyor Current and Input 94 Chip Conveyor Overcurrent Int.
4.103 (Spindle) Axis Servo Error Too Large This file is used to troubleshoot alarm 4.103 (Spindle) Axis Servo Error Too Large.  It captures S-Axis Actual Position, S-Axis Current Command, S-Axis Servo Error and S-Axis Load Z Channel Travel data.
9989 C-Axis Failed to Engage This file is used to troubleshoot alarm 9989 C-Axis Failed to Engage.  It captures S-Axis Actual Position, C-Axis Actual Position, Output 28 and C-Axis Engage State data.
Safe Run This file is used to capture position data to troubleshoot collision detected alarms.
Servo Motor Current Data Collection

This file is used to collect load data from the servo motor.  The data capture can be analyzed to determine if there is problem with servo motor/ballscrew system.

This Servo Motor Current Data Collection can also help identify if there is a bind present causing a humming noise within the servo motor and ballscrew system. For more information refer to the Servo Motor Current Data Collection Program Setup section on this page.

Machines with software version 100.23.000.1000 or higher, the Linear Axis Test can be done to help identify what type of bind is present after the Servo Motor Current Data Collection has been completed. Refer to Linear Axis Test - Instruction for futher information.

861 Spindle Phase Synchronization Lost This file is used to troubleshoot alarm 861 Spindle Phase Synchronization Lost.  It captures SP Sync Phase Error, S Axis - Position Error, SS Axis - Position Error and Output 55 data.

1

Save the xxxxx.XML file to the USB.

Press [LIST PROGRAM] and navigate to the USB tab [1].

Select the xxxxxx.XML program [2].

2

Press the [E-STOP] button.

Press [F4] [1].  This will generate a popup window.

Select Load Data Collection [2].

Select [ENTER].

3

On the CURRENT COMMANDS page highlight the Mechanisms Tab.

The press the [>] on General Service [1].

Highlight the Data Collection.

Pull the [E-STOP] button and [RESET] all the alarms.

Press [F2] [2].  The Data Collection device will change to Armed [3].

NOTE: From this point you will see an hourglass icon in the upper left of the screen, near the clock.

This means that the machine is ready to collect the specified data. It will remain in this state until the triggering event happens, or the machine is rebooted.

4

Run the program that causes the alarm.

NOTE: If you are running the Servo Motor Current Data collection program see the Servo Motor Current Data Collection Program Set Up section for further details on how to set up the program.

Once the alarm gets generated you will get a message "DATA CAPTURED".

A xxxxx.OSC_DATA file will be saved on the User Data folder. Take an error report at this time. Submit the Data File and Error Report to Haas Service.

NOTE: If needed, repeat the steps to collect the data again. Be sure to copy the original .OSC_DATA file off the control, as it will overwrite the file when the next triggering even happens.

Note: Check below for details on how to interpret the data collection, if there is not a section for your specific data collection send your data collection file into the Haas Service Department.

Servo Motor Current Data Collection Program Set Up

1

When running the test on the vertical axis (Z-axis), start with the spindle head at the bottom of the travel and command it to feed up [1].

When running the test on the horizontal axis (X-axis), start from HOME position and command the axis to move to the MAX travel [2].

When running the test  front to back (Y-axis), start from HOME position and command the axis to move to the MAX travel [3].

Important: The Data Collection Test must be performed on the entire travel of the axis.

2

When the data collection is armed an M222 code at the beginning, it is required within the program to trigger the recording of the motor current.

The axis is also required to move at 50 in/min to get accurate data.

In this example, the machine is already at its starting position by hand jogging and the program uses G91 incremental movement.

3

After executing the program, the DATA COLLECTION status will change from "ARMED"  to "TRIGGERED."

Wait for the axis to finish the move and for DATA COLLECTION status to change from "TRIGGERED" to" LOADED"

4

The results of the test will be automatically save to .OSC_DATA file in the USER DATA.

Copy the file onto the USB for analysis.

Refer to the Axis Humming Troubleshooting Guide for further information on how to decipher the data collected.
