Low Load Solenoid Valve Kit - Installation - AD0594

Introduction

This procedure outlines how to add in an AC input line filter to the I/O PCB and solenoid output filter on machines with I/O PCB 34-3490A/B. These kits will assist intermittent digital SMC solenoid related alarms.

Machine Requirements:

  • I/O PCB P/N 34-3490A/B

This procedure applies to the following kits:

  • 93-3450: DUAL SOLENOID FILTER SERVICE KIT
  • 93-3451: SINGLE SOLENOID FILTER SERVICE KIT
  • 93-3452: SIO PWR FILTER SERVICE KIT

IMPORTANT: Only install the above filter service kits on I/O PCB boards 34-3490A/B. Do not install the filter service kits on I/O PCB boards 34-3490C as the filters are built into the board. 

Use the table below to determine which kits are needed for your application.

Note: Lathe APL's will need three (3) of kit 93-3450 and VF & UMC APL's will need two (2) of kits 93-3450.

Installation

Push [POWER OFF].

Set the main circuit breaker to the [OFF] position.

Lock the main circuit breaker. Use an approved lock with an approved safety tag.

Danger: After turning off the machine, wait at least 5 minutes before working in the control cabinet, to allow power to dissipate. Wait for the voltage indicator LED on the vectore drive to go off completely.

Caution: When you handle a PCB, you must wear an Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) strap.

In the lube panel cut off the air supply and bleed the excess from the air gun.

Warning: If you are working on an APL make sure there is nothing in the grippers.

Follow this step for all applications.

Note: This step applies to P/N: 93-3452

For machines without a Tool Changer board

Attach the SIO board to the left side of the I/O board using the standoffs and screws provided.

Disconnect cable 33-0349 from P55 on the I/O board and connect it to the Input connection of the SIO board [1].

Connect the cable from the SIO board to P55 on the I/O board [2].

Put any excess cable in the cable channel path.

For machines with a Tool Changer board

Attach the SIO board to the left side of the Tool Changer board using the standoffs and screws provided.

Disconnect cable 33-0349 from P55 on the I/O board and connect it to the Input connection of the SIO board [3].

Connect the cable from the SIO board to P55 on the Tool Changer board [4].

Put any excess cable in the cable channel path.

Follow this step for solenoids in the lube panel.

Note: This step applies to P/N: 93-3450 OR P/N: 93-3451

Disconnect the SMC solenoid [1] from the lube panel connection. 

Attach the SMC solenoid to the solenoid filter [3] and attach the solenoid filter to the lube panel connection [2] that the SMC solenoid was previously disconnected from.

Note: Pictured is a single SMC solenoid using a single soleniod filter, same process can be used for the SMC double solenoid by using a double solenoid filter.

Follow this step for solenoids in the lube panel.

Note: This step applies to P/N: 93-3450 OR P/N: 93-3451

Use zip ties to secure the solenoid filter in the cable channel as shown in [1] & [2].

Cut the excess off the zip tie and put any excess cable lengths in the cable channel and slide the cover up as shown in [3].

Follow this step for APL Solenoids

Note: This step applies to P/N: 93-3450 on APL's

Disconnect the APL solenoid [1] and connect it to the double solenoid filter [2] connection [3] that was ordered.

Connect the solenoid filter where the APL solenoid was originally connected to [4].

Zip tie the double solenoid filter to the mounting bracket as shown [5].

Use a zip tie to tie up any excess cables.

Turn the air supply back on.

Turn the machine on and verify that everything works correctly.
