H-5AX Spindle Mount Plate - Replacement

Introduction

This procedure will guide you on how to replace the H-5AX Spindle Mount Plate.

This document applies to the following parts:

  •   93-5049 HSD F63 B-AXIS MOUNT PLATE SVC KIT
  •   93-3920 H-5AX A63 B-AXIS MOUNT PLATE SVC KIT

Important: Before replacing any parts, download and complete the Spindle Inspection Report Checklist provided below. This step is required to ensure proper documentation and service validation.

Removal

Follow the steps in the H-5AX Spindle - Replacement - AD0567 procedure to remove the spindle cartridge.

With the spindle assembly removed, take note of the location of the O-rings and dowel pins. 

  Note: The center O-ring (PN: 57-0974) is split and does not need to be replaced, unless the O-ring is damaged.

With the B axis orientated to 90°, remove the 3 center screws from the mount plate.

Remove the outer diameter screws from the spindle mount plate.

Note: No bolt is used in location indicated in Red.

 H-5AX F63 Spindle mount plate will have 7 bolts in place 

 H-5AX A63 Spindle mount plate will have 8 bolts in place

With all screws removed, carefully pull the spindle plate out the B axis body housing. Taking care not to twist the plate as you pull, there is one locating pin inserted into the mount plate. During removal, verify no O-rings are lost.

Installation

Verify the plugs have been installed on the plate included in the kit in the following locations.

If the plugs are not already installed, install the plugs.

Turn the mount plate over and install the following:

  1. Dust seal (PN: 57-0976)
  2. Dowel pin (PN: 48-0088)
  3. O-ring (PN: 57-0858)

Important: Take note of the orientation of the flange on the Dust seal during installation to ensure proper fit and function.

The Dust Seal is correctly installed if the flange is facing the B-Axis plate.

Clean and inspect the replacement mount plate. Lightly coat the seal and O-rings with an O-ring grease.

Before installing the mount plate back on, slide the center union tube back allowing clearance for the dowel pin.

Line up the outer mount screw hole to the axis drive screw holes. Once in place, slide the center union tube forward to insert the dowel pin into the correct location.

Install the three SHCS M5 X 18MM and outer SHCS M8 X 25 screws hand tight. Torque the center screws first and then torque the out screws in star pattern. Refer to Haas Fastener Torque Specifications.

Clean and inspect the spindle mount plate, verify all O-rings (PN: 57-1048) [2] and dowel pins (PN: 48-0077) [1] are in place. 

  Note: The center O-ring (PN: 57-0974) [3] is split and does not need to be replaced, unless the O-ring is damaged.

Install the spindle (refer to AD0567 Installation section).

Complete the latest inspection report found in the Alignment Inspection Report and Checklists folder on HBC.
