Machine Ambient Temperature Sensor Location

Introduction

Some machines come with a preinstalled temperature sensor to track the machine's casting temperature level. This temperature sensor is attached to different locations on different machines shown below.

IMPORTANT: This sensor is for informational purposes only. It will not affect thermal compensation.

CM / CL Identification

CM Temperature Sensor:

The temperature sensor [1] is installed onto the back of the CM column casting. It is located behind the Z axis servo motor.

The sensor cable [2] is routed with other cables into the control cabinet.

CL Temperature Sensor:

The temperature sensor [1] is installed onto the CL base casting. It is located behind the Z axis servo motor.

The sensor cable [2] is routed with other cables through the back of the base casting and around the perimeter of the machine into the control cabinet.

UMC Identification

UMC 350 Temperature Sensor:

The temperature sensor [1] is installed onto the UMC 350 bridge casting underneath the X axis proximity sensor mount [2].

The sensor cable [3] is routed with other cables directly into the control cabinet.

UMC 500 - 1500 Temperature Sensor:

The temperature sensor [1] is installed onto the back of the UMC base casting on the control cabinet side.

The sensor cable [2] is routed with other cables directly into the control cabinet.

ST - Lathes Identification

ST-10/L Temperature Sensor:

The temperature sensor [1] is installed onto the ST-10/L base casting. It is located behind the Z axis support head.

The sensor cable [2] is routed with other cables into the control cabinet.

ST-20/30/L Temperature Sensor:

The temperature sensor [1] is installed onto the ST-20/30/L casting. It is located between the Z axis servo motor and the Z axis support head.

The sensor cable [2] is routed with other cables into the control cabinet.

ST-40 Temperature Sensor:

The temperature sensor [1] is installed onto the ST-40 casting. It is located to the right of the Z axis servo motor and above the right Z axis linear guide rail.

The sensor cable [2] is routed with other cables into the control cabinet.

VF-6/7/8/9/10/11/12 Identification

The temperature sensor [1] is installed onto the top of the VF-Large column casting. It is located behind the Z axis servo motor to the left.

The sensor cable [2] is routed with other cables into the control cabinet.

DM / DT, MM & TM Identification

The temperature sensor [1] is installed onto the top of the DM/DT, MM & TM column casting. It is located behind the Z axis servo motor.

The sensor cable [2] is routed with other cables into the control cabinet.

EC Identification

EC-400/500/630 built after 8/1/2024 and VC-400 built after 10/22/2024 Temperature Sensor:

The temperature sensor [1] is installed onto the front left side of the base casting next to the electrical connector bracket.

The sensor cable [2] is routed with other cables through the front of the base casting into the control cabinet.

EC-1600/YZT/ZT built before 3/1/2024 Temperature Sensor:

The temperature sensor [1] is installed onto the front of the EC-1600 column casting. It is located behind the Z-Axis ball screw.

The sensor cable [2] is routed with other cables through the back of the column casting into the control cabinet.

EC-1600/YZT/ZT built after 3/1/2024 Temperature Sensor:

The temperature sensor [1] is installed onto the EC-1600 base casting. It is located forward of the tool changer.

The sensor cable [2] is routed along the perimeter of the machine towards the back of the column and into the control cabinet.

HDC-3-5AX Identification

The temperature sensor [1] is installed onto the top of the HDC-3-5AX Bridge casting.

The sensor cable [2] is routed through sheet metal into the bridge and routed with other cables into the control cabinet.

VS - 1/3 Identification

The temperature sensor [1] is installed onto the VS base casting. It is located underneath the control cabinet.

The sensor cable [2] is routed up into the control cabinet.

GR - 510/712 Identification

The temperature sensor [1] is installed onto the base casting rail near the operator. It is located towards the back, under the table.

The sensor cable [2] is routed through the back of the base casting with other cables into the control cabinet.

GM-2 / GM-2-5AX Identification

The temperature sensor [1] is installed onto the base casting rail near the control cabinet.

The sensor cable [2] is routed into the control cabinet.
