Remove the hold pusher plate from the carriage.

Attach adapter rod [1], the 5/8" (16 mm) adapters [2], and the reducer fittings to the air cylinder rod.

Attach the air cylinder rod to the adapter plate. Use the (2) 5/16" x 18 x1-1 socket head cap screws (SHCS) and two washers [3].

Attach the adapter plate and the spacing plates to the tranfer table. Use the hardware included in the kit.

Do not tighten the screws. Align the adapter plate in the steps that follow.

 Note: Use the quantity of plates that is necessary to align the air cylinder to the "V"-shape of the transfer table.

Use a level to align the adapter plate parallel to the transfer tray. Operate the bar feeder to make sure the installation is correct.

Make sure that the rod does not touch the sheet metal of the transfer tray.

Tighten the (4) screws when this alignment is complete.

Remove the electrical bracket from the bar feeder to install the air solenoid assembly.

Attach the air solenoid to the electrical bracket [1].

Connect the air solenoid plug [2] to the air connector cable (This cable is in the kit) on the electrical bracket.

Install the electrical bracket onto the bar feeder.

Connect the solenoid power cable to the P51 on the lathe I/O PCB. Make sure the I/O PCB is revision S or higher.

Connect the 1/4" (6 mm) plastic air hose to the solenoid fitting.

Connect the other end of the air hose to the 1/4" (6 mm) adapter. This adapter is not in the kit. Connect the adapter to the fitting on the air manifold.

For machines made before November 2012, the plate [1] for the ballscrew-nut housing does not have more holes.

To install the 1/2" (13 mm) plastic air conduit, use the holes and hardware at the bottom of the housing plate [2].

Push the (2) 5/32" (4 mm) plastic air hoses through the 1/2" (13 mm) plastic air conduit.

Install the 1/2" (13 mm) plastic air conduit between the carriage and the ballscrew.

Attach the 1/2" (13 mm) plastic air conduit to the base bar carriage. Use the (2) 7/16" (11 mm) clamps.

Attach the 1/2" (13 mm) tube to the adapter plate. Use the (2) 7/16" (11 mm) clamps.

Push the two 5/32" (4 mm) tube ends into the connectors on the air cylinder pusher assembly.

Attach the 1/2″ (13 mm) tube to the bottom panel. Use a 7/16″ (11 mm) clamp and a 1/4"-20x1/2″ SHCS.

Connect the two air tubes to the solenoid fittings.

For machines made after November 2012, the plate for the ballscrew-nut housing has more holes.

The holes are on the top and bottom of the plate [1].

Use these holes to attach the plastic clamp and the conduit-guide assembly.

Remove four links from an end of the conduit guide assembly.

Turn the removed links 180 degrees and install them back on the conduit guide assembly.

Push the (2) 5/32" (4 mm) plastic air hoses through the 1/2" (13 mm) plastic air conduit.

Install the 1/2" (13 mm) conduit assembly into the conduit-guide assembly.

Attach one of the plastic clamps [1] to the plate with (2) 1/4"-20x1/2″ SHCS.

On the conduit-guide assembly, locate the end with the links that you turned 180 degrees.

Connect this end to the bottom of the plate [2] for the ballscrew-nut housing. Use the (2) 1/4"-20x1/2" SHCS.

Make sure the 1/2" (13 mm) plastic conduit goes around the ballscrew nut as shown in the illustration.

Attach the conduit guide and a 7/16" (11 mm) clamp to the bottom panel of the bar feeder enclosure with (2) 1/4"-20x1/2" SHCS.

Attach the 1/2" (13 mm) plastic conduit and (2) 7/16" (11 mm) clamps to the air pusher adapter plate.

Push the two 5/32" (4 mm) tube ends into the connectors on the air cylinder pusher assembly.

Connect the 5/32" (4 mm) air hoses to the fittings on the solenoid.

Remove the push rod [1] from the arms.

Remove the retainer screw, and the brass flange bushing [2] from the right-hand-side of the arm.

Install the retainer screw [1], the brass flange bushing, and the new, longer push-rod [2].

Make sure to grease the push rod and bushing.

Jog the push rod back and forth to equally apply the grease.

For correct operation, lubricate the rod frequently.

Test the air hoses installation as follows:

• If the cylinder is extended at the beginning of travel, the air hoses are installed correctly.
• If the cylinder is extended at the end of travel, change the positions of the air hoses.

Change Parameter 587  Extended Push Time to 300.

Change Parameter 321  Push Rod Zero Pos to 400.

Put the 12" (305 mm) gauge bar in the charging tray, near the lathe.

The gauge bar is included with the Bar Feeder.

Set the new end of the bar position.

Run the command G105 Q5.

To complete the bar feed, command a G105 Q4 and a G105 Q2.
