UMC-400 Chip Lift Compatibility and Orientation

The UMC-400 chip lift is only compatible with the Side Chip Auger configuration.

  • Only compatible with UMC-400 & UMC-400SS built after 4/14/2026

Machines equipped with the original front-facing chip chute (standard configuration) are not compatible with the chip lift due to the lower height of the front chute assembly.

If the machine has the original front chip chute that discharges at the front of the machine, the chip lift cannot be installed unless the machine is converted to the Side Auger configuration.

Applicable Kits:

  • 93-1001334 – HAAS Chip Lift Kit UMC-400

  • 93-1001333 – Chip Chute Kit, Side UMC-400

1

The chip lift can be installed in two orientations:

  • Facing the side of the machine

  • Facing the front of the machine

When installing the chip lift in the front-facing orientation, the CHIP CONV MOBILE SAFETY FUNNEL (30-13026) must be adjusted accordingly.

Refer to the installation illustrations showing both front and side mounting configurations.

2

Route the Chip Conveyor Extension Cable from the chip lift down along the neck toward the base of the machine, following the path shown in the image.

At the base of the machine, use the 59-2041 cable clamps to secure and guide the cable along the base casting.

These clamps route and lift the motor cable upward toward the electrical cabinet.

Continue routing the cable as shown until it reaches the hole shown in the side panel [1].

Insert the cable through this hole and connect it to cable 32-1335.

On the backside of the panel, cable 32-1335 is routed internally to the control cabinet and connects to P24 on the I/O board.

When the chip lift is ordered for this machine, it will include three 59-1647A magnetic cable holders (1/2") to help guide and secure the Chip Conveyor Extension Cable along the machine skirt, keeping the cable off the ground and providing a cleaner routing path. Any additional cable slack should be routed and secured inside the control cabinet.

Electrical Installation

1

Push [POWER OFF].

Set the main circuit breaker to the OFF position.

Lock the main circuit breaker. Use an approved lock with an approved safety tag.

Caution: When you handle a PCB, you must wear an Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) strap.

2

This step shows you how to install the hinge door on the I/O PCB.   Skip this step If you machine already has a hinge door installed.
