Introduction

The Power PCB mounts the low voltage power distribution, high voltage fuses, and circuit breakers.

Symptom Table

Symptom Possible Cause Corrective Action
Alarm 552 TRIPPED CIRCUIT BREAKER (Version M PDIST PCBs only)
An overload condition on the coolant pump, chip conveyor, TSC coolant pump, or work light tripped one of the circuit breakers.
Check for a tripped breaker. Inspect the system connected to the tripped breaker. Correct the root cause of the overload condition and reset the breaker.
Alarm 552 TRIPPED CIRCUIT BREAKER
The circuit breaker jumper is missing. When the machine does not have TSC option there will be no circuit breaker installed on the PSUP PCB. Make sure the a jumper is installed.
The circuit breakers tabs are not seated correctly on the PSUP PCB. Make sure the all circuit breakers tabs are seated correctly on the PSUP PCB.

(Single-phase machines only), Alarm 552 TRIPPED CIRCUIT BREAKER occurs when the coolant pump gets commanded to turn on.

Note: The circuit breaker did not trip.

The 240 VAC input cable connected to the PSUP at P10 is not correct.
Turn off the main breaker and disconnect 240 VAC input cable from the PSUP at P10 and swap the white and black wire positions on the cable.

None of the 120 VAC connectors have power.

The 120 VAC breaker did not trip.

There is a bad conenction from the main transformer 120 VAC output to the PDIST PCB.
Inspect the cables and connections at TB1 on the the main transformer, and at P1 on the PDIST PCB (or TB1 depending on the version of the PCB).
The 5/12-12 VDC LEDs cycle on and off and the machine does not boot up.
There is a shorted output from the Low Voltage Power Supply (LVPS).
Inspect the Low Voltage Power Supply (LVPS). Look for burnt or overheated components. Inspect the cable harness from the LVPS.

None of the 240 VAC output connectors have power (coolant pump, TSC, or chip conveyor).

The breaker did not trip.

There is a bad connection from the main transformer 240 VAC output to the PDIST PCB.
Inspect the cables and connections at TB2 on the main transformer and at P10 on the PDIST PCB (or TB3 depending on the version of the PCB).

The machine does not power-up.

The voltage at the main circuit breaker is correct.

There is a bad connection at the PDIST PCB ON/OFF circuit connectors.
Inspect the cables and connections for damamge.
Fuses F1 or F3 are blown.
An electrical surge caused an overvoltage condition.
Inspect diodes, MOVs, and inrush current limitors VR1-6 on the PDIST PCB for cracks and burn marks. If VR1-6 are not damaged, replace the blown fuse.
The machine phase detect lights Pass and Fail are both lit.
The machine is wired for single phase.
This is normal for single phase power machines.

Short/Tripped Breaker

Corrective Action:

  1. Main Circuit Breaker
  2. Worklight/GFCI
  3. Coolant Pump
  4. TSC Coolant Pump
  5. Chip Conveyor

Inspect the system connected to the tripped circuit breaker. Find and correct the root cause of the overload condition. Inspect the cables and/or motors for the system connected to the tripped circuit breaker for damage. Reset the breaker.

120 VAC Connection

Corrective Action:

Inspect cables and connections at TB1 [1] on the main transformers, and at P1 [2] on the PDIST PCB Version M, or TB1 [3] on other versions of PDIST PCB.

Low Volt Power Supply

Corrective Action:

Inspect the Low Voltage Power Supply (LVPS). Look for burnt or overheated components. Inspect the cable harness from the LVPS.

240 VAC Connection

Corrective Action:

Inspect the 240 VAC output cables and connections at TB2 on the main transformers, and these locations on the PDIST PCB:

  • 93-1984: P10 [2]
  • 93-20025: P23, and P15 or P15A (either connector will work) [3]
  • 93-20026: TB3 [4]

On/Off Circuit

Corrective Action:

Inspect the 240 VAC output cables and connections at TB2 on the main transformers, and these locations on the PDIST PCB:

  • 93-1984: P10 [2]
  • 93-20025: P23, and P15 or P15A (either connector will work) [3]
  • 93-20026: TB3 [4]

Fuses

Corrective Action:

Inspect VR1-6 [1] on the PDIST PCB for damage. Replace any blown fuses [2].

Note: Not all versions of the PDIST PCB have all of the VR numbers (1-6) [1] or both fuses [2].
