G199 Sync Test Procedure - Setup

Use the following test procedure to determine the root cause of the problem and eliminate the alarms generated.

Potential alarms generated:

  • 861 Spindle Phase Synchronization Lost
  • 12.108 Second Spindle Axis Servo Overload
  • 12.149 Second Spindle Turning
  • 9909 Spindles Speed Synchronization Error
  • 9910 Spindle Phase Synchronization Error

Test Program Description:

Synchronize the main spindle and sub-spindle for 45 seconds. During spindle synchronization, note the spindle load % of both spindles.

Machine Requirements:

  • Lathe NGC Machine with Sub-Spindle
  • Latest Released Software Version
  • Bored jaws for the Main Spindle and Sub-Spindle
  • 2.0 inch diameter steel stock or tubing. Saw cut to 9.0 inches long.
  • O20199.nc (Sync Test Program)
  • SPINDLE SYNC ALARM.xml (Data Collection File)

Set Main & Sub-Spindle Chuck Unclamp RPM:

  • Set Setting 283 Main Spindle Chuck Unclamp RPM to 300.
  • Set Setting 346 Sub Spindle Chuck Unclamp RPM to 300.

Install the Stock to the Main Spindle chuck:

  • Install the stock into the Main Spindle chuck jaws and clamp the part.

Position the Sub-Spindle:

  • Jog the Sub-Spindle with the chuck unclamped so the part is 1.0 inches inside the jaws and clamp the Sub-Spindle chuck.

Arm Data Collection File:

G199 Sync & Cutoff Test Procedure - Run Test Program

Test Program:

Synchronize the main spindle and sub-spindle for 45 seconds. During spindle synchronization, note the spindle load % of both spindles.

 Note: The Data Collection file SPINDLE SYNC ALARM.xml needs to be armed before running the test program.

Run the test program:

Note: Run the program from Memory and not the USB.

If no alarms are generated, the machine operates as designed. Model your program after the test program.

If alarms are generated, a message "DATA CAPTURED" will display on the control. A SPINDLE SYNC ALARM.xx-xx-xxxx.OSC_DATA file will be saved in the User Data folder. Take an error report at this time with the alarm(s) generated. Submit the Data File and Error Report to Haas Service.
