UMC-1250 machines built after 6/25/2024 should use kits 93-1001117 for domestic shipping and 93-1001118 for non-domestic shipping.

Note: The above kits contain the Pallet Pool Receiver and the Pallet Pool itself, but this procedure explains how to install just the receiver assembly. Refer to the Pallet Pool Service Manual for the installation of the pallet pool after this procedure is done.

C-Axis Removal

1

Rotate the B-axis +90 degrees and remove the cover [1]. Return the B-axis to its original position at 0 degrees.

2

Remove the platter by following the removal section of the UMC C-Axis Platter Replacement linked below.

WARNING: IF YOU DO NOT DISENGAGE THE BRAKE AND DISCONNECT THE LINES YOU CAN PERMANENTLY DAMAGE THE BRAKE BY REMOVING THE PLATTER.

UMC Rotary Unit – Weight Reference Guide

Pallet Pool Receiver Install

1

When installing a Pallet Pool platter, be sure the gearbox mounting hole pattern is oriented as shown. Reference [1] for UMC-500/750/1000 pallet pool machines and reference [2] for UMC-1250 machines.

The holes highlighted in blue show the bolt pattern position required to mount the platter.

The single hole highlighted in red needs to be pointing to the 3 O'clock position [1] UMC-500/750/1000 pallet pool machines and 12 O'clock [2] for UMC-1250 machines. To jog the C-Axis you will need to return air to the machine, release Emergency Stop, and clear alarms.

Warning: Before jogging the C-Axis you will need to verify the C-Axis booster is still plugged. (see step 3 of the Removal Process above)

2

Install the receiver subplate using the provided hardware.

Torque the bolts to their required specs

3

Attach the hydraulic shaft [1] to the three port rotary union shaft extension [3] using the 3 bolts [4] provided.

Add the three o-rings [2] in between the them to make sure each hole has a proper seal.

Note: Double the check the orientation in which the hydraulic shaft is attached to make sure the three holes are aligned correctly.

4

Attach the rotary extension [1] to the pallet receiver and place the o-rings [2] between the two pieces.

Note: The o-rings must be seated properly to create a good seal or else the extension will leak.

When attaching the rotary extension, the alignment pin [3] in the pallet receiver will make sure the rotary extension is clocked in the correct orientation. Once attached, use the bolt [4] to keep the two assemblies together.

5

Attach the provided  1/2-13 eye bolt [1] to the piston of the pallet receiver. Use this as the lifting point for the pallet receiver when transferring it into the machine.

6

Using a 1/2-13 eye bolt to lift and install the receiver [2] using the hardware provided.

Remove the eye bolt and install the Pull Stud [4] with its hardware.

Torque the bolts to their required specs

Important: When installing the receiver [1] verify the C-Axis brake bleed screw is accessible [3].

After the platter is torqued down, refer to steps 6-9 of the Platter Installation section of the UMC C-Axis Platter Replacement procedure to reconnect the C-Axis brake.

7

With the bolts torqued to spec, zero the indicator on the top face of the machined extrusions of the pallet receiver.

Jog the platter, measuring each extrusion. Inspect and document the face runout. Face runout NTE .0015".

8

Clock the read head to the position shown [1], this will require the compensation to be redone on the machine.
Please contact service about borrowing a swivel checker.

Torque the bolts to their required specs.

Install the anti-rotation block [2] with the provided hardware [3] and torque bolts to 10 ft-lbs.

Gently drop down manifold [4] around hydraulic shaft [6] and the Anti-rotation block pin [5]. Careful not to damage the O-rings inside.

Snap on retaining clip [7] into groove with a set of snap ring handles

9

Install the clamp/unclamp switches and bracket assembly [1] using the provided hardware [2].

Torque the bolts to their required specs.

10

Verify the routing of the following cables/hoses as shown:

  1.  Read Head Cable
  2. Ground Cable
  3. Home Switch Cable
  4. Brake Line Hose

These cables/hoses should be secured with velcro [5] and cable clamps [6].

11

Install the side of the hose with the filters [1]  to the HPU, there are zip ties indicating which hose is clamp and unclamp.

The RED zip tie indicates the CLAMP hydraulic hose.

The GREEN zip tie indicates the UNCLAMP hydraulic hose.

12

Route the hydraulic lines from the HPU [1] through the center thru bore of the B-axis body. The air line [2] will also be routed along with the hydraulic lines.

13

Pull the air and hydraulic hoses through the B-axis body and to the hydraulic manifold as shown. Use the zip ties and cable clamps to neatly route the cables to the hydraulic manifold.

The unclamp denoted in green [1] goes the fittings as shown, and the clamp hose denoted in red [2] is also as shown. The airline [3] will attach to the elbow fitting on the manifold.

NOTE: Make sure to match the clamp and unclamp hose with the same color zip ties on the manifold fittings.

14

Verify the routing of the following cables/hoses as shown:

  1. Air Hose
  2. Hydraulic Unclamp Hose  (green)
  3. Hydraulic Clamp Hose (red)
  4.  Receiver Clamp Prox Switch Cable
  5. Receiver Unclamp Prox Switch Cable

These cables/hoses should be secured with velcro [7] and cable clamps [6].
