Install tool T-1635 [1] onto the spindle. The spindle cannot turn with this tool installed.

Disconnect the hose [2] for the coolant flow. The hose is at the top of the bearingless TSC union.

Remove the 90-degree fitting [2].

Disconnect the piston pressure tube [1].

Disconnect the vacuum drain hose [2].

Remove the (4) mounting screws [3] on the TSC union.

Remove the TSC union [5].

Remove the standoffs [4].

Remove the bearingless shaft from the motor. Turn clockwise to loosen the shaft.

Make sure the bearingless-union shaft threads and o-ring are clean.

Apply molybdenum grease to the o-ring [1].

Clean the motor shaft threads.

Install the bearingless shaft [2] onto the motor.

Turn counterclockwise to tighten.

Torque the shaft [2] to 30 ft-lb (41 Nm).

Place a dial indicator [3] on the bearingless shaft [2].

Use your hand to turn the spindle.

The radial and axial TIR must be less than .0005''.  If the TIR exceeds this value, shim the TSC shaft.

To shim the TSC shaft:

Measure the radial runout [1].

Mark the high spot with a pen [2].

Loosen the TSC shaft enough to create a gap between the TSC shaft and the motor shaft.

If the radial runout is than .0015'' use .0005'' shim stock.

If the radial runout is greater than .0015'' use .001'' shim stock.

Insert the shim at the marked location [3] and torque the TSC shaft to 30 ft-lb.

Trim away the excess shim stock.

After shimming the TSC shaft:

Measure radial runout [1].  It must not exceed .0005''.

Measure axial runout [2].  It must not exceed .0005''.

If shaft runout cannot be corrected with shims contact Haas service.

Install the bearingless union [2] assembly to the top of the spindle-drive motor.

Use the (4) standoffs [3] and (4) 1/4-20 x 2" socket-head cap screws (SHCS) [1].

Torque the screws [1]. Refer to Haas Fastener Torque Specifications. Use the value for steel.

 Note: The arrow [1] in the first image points to the front of the machine. Make sure to install the bearingless union in the position shown.

Connect the first section of the 7/16" high-pressure braided hose [1] to the bearingless TSC union [2].

Connect the second section of the hose [1] to the check-valve assembly [5].

Connect the vacuum drain hose [8] to the bearingless TSC union [2].

Connect the piston pressure hose [7] o the bearingless TSC union [2].

Remove the adjustable regulator from the solenoid assembly [4].

Install the 35 psi [3] regulator if the system has TSC 300 psi.

Install the 85 psi [4] regulator if the system has TSC 1000 psi.

Make sure that the arrow on the regulator [9] is in the correct position.

Operate this code in MDI mode:

M59 P1148 ;

G04 P5.0 ;

M69 P1148 ;

G04 P2.0 ;

M99 ;

P1148 is for inline spindles.

For HS machines, use P1124 and not P1148.

For belt-drive spindles, use P1120 and not P1148.

If the machine has a bearingless union, the union moves up and down at 7-second intervals. The up and down movement is small.

The illustration shows the up and down movements for these machines:

Push [RESET].

Push [AUX CLNT] to activate the TSC.

Inspect the TSC hoses for leaks.

Correct operation is as follows:

1. Coolant [1] flows correctly from the spindle.
2. A few drops flow from the vacuum-generator hose [3].

Push [RESET].

Put a TSC toolholder [2] in the spindle.

Push [AUX CLNT] to start the TSC.

Correct operation is as follows:

1. Coolant flows correctly from the spindle [1].
2. A few drops flow from the vacuum-generator hose [3].

Examine the TSC hoses for leaks.

Push [RESET].
