This procedure replaces the Felt Seal to a Nylon Seal with an O-Ring on the B-Axis Platter for EC-400/500/630 machines. 

This procedure applies to the following service kit:

• 93-4752 PLATTER SEAL SVC KIT EC-400/500/630

 WARNING: BE SURE TO DEPRESSURIZE THE HPU AS IT CAN RESULT IN A POSSIBLE INJURY WHEN REMOVING COMPONENTS IN THIS ASSEMBLY.  

Zero return the B-Axis before depressurizing the HPU

Press [DIAGNOSTIC] then navigate to the PARAMETERS tab then navigate to the FACTORY tab.

Set parameter 40.011 HPU 1 TYPE [1] to ON DEMAND [2]. 

 NOTE: Parameter 40.011 HPU 1 TYPE will need to be set to ON DEMAND in order for the depressurize page to work. If it is set to ALWAYS ON or DISABLED the HPU will not depressurize.

Depressurize the HPU using the HPU DEPRESSURE page.

Press [DIAGNOSTIC] then navigate to the MAINTENANCE tab [1] then navigate to the HPU DEPRESSURE tab [2]. Press [F3] to depressurize the HPU [3] and the HPU should no longer have pressure in the lines. The text on the screen will display a status that the HPU is safe to use [4]

 NOTE: Parameter 40.011 HPU 1 TYPE will need to be set to ON DEMAND in order for the depressurize page to work. If it is set to ALWAYS ON or DISABLED the HPU will not depressurize.

Release the brake, press E-stop, power off the machine, and place lock-out on the machine.

Unbolt and lower the sensor/anti-rotation bracket [1]. Remove the snap ring [2] from the shaft. Lower the block [3] off the shaft.

 NOTE: Mark the hydraulic lines, air lines, and fittings on the manifold with zip ties to ease reinstallation later during this procedure.

Install jack bolts [4] under the clamp plate to prevent damage to the piston quad-ring.

Remove the (8) bolts [5] from the receiver.

Install (2) eye bolts in the clamp plate. Use an appropriate lifting strap to raise the receiver from the rotary.

This assembly will weigh approximately 200 lbs.

  NOTE: Hydraulic fluid will leak out when the receiver is lifted.

Remove the (9) platter mounting bolts [1].

Using 1/2-13 eye bolts [2] safely lift and remove the platter [3].

This platter weights approximately 200 lbs use the proper lifting device when removing. 

Release the brake and make sure the HPU is depressurized before removing the line. Plug the brake like to prevent leakage. 

 WARNING: IF YOU DO NOT DISENGAGE THE BRAKE AND DISCONNECT THE LINES YOU CAN PERMANENTLY DAMAGE THE BRAKE BY REMOVING THE PLATTER.

EC-400/500

Carefully flip the platter over.

Using a pick or small scraper, remove the FELT SEAL from the platter.

Clean the bottom portion of the platter that is to come into contact with the brake assembly and groove for the seal.   

NOTE: Verify groove is clean and free of burrs before installing seals.

Lubricate the O-RING [1] and NYLON SEAL [2] with TACKY GREASE and install into platter groove.

EC-630

Carefully flip the platter over.

Using a pick or small scraper, remove the FELT SEAL from the platter.

Clean the bottom portion of the platter that is to come into contact with the brake assembly and groove for the seal.   

NOTE: Verify groove is clean and free of burrs before installing seals.

Lubricate the O-RING [1] and NYLON SEAL [2] with TACKY GREASE and install into platter groove.

Using 1/2-13 eye bolts [1] safely lower the platter [2] onto the brake assembly. Line up the brake bleed port on the brake with the access hole on the platter.

Loosely install the platter mounting bolts (SHCS M16 X 50) [3].

The platter weighs approximately 200 lbs, use the proper lifting device to safely lift this component. 

With the jack bolt [1] in place, lower the receiver onto the rotary body. Make sure the new O-ring stays in place under the receiver as its lowered into position.

 Line up the brake bleed access hole on the platter with the access hole on the receiver. Hand tighten the (8) receiver bolts [2].

Install the rotary union block [3] onto the shaft and install the snap ring [4] and reconnect the hydraulic and air lines.

Install the sensor/anti-rotation bracket [5]. Apply a light layer of grease the pin.

The receiver weighs approximately 200 lbs, use the proper lifting device to safely lift this component.
