Note: The location of the Bijur mechanical oil pump is different on some machines.

The Bijur mechanical oil pump axis-lubrication system is a resistance-type lubrication system. It pumps oil through flexible plastic tubing and copper tubes to the linear guide trucks and to the ballnuts.

1. Oil Pressure Gauge - Shows the oil pressure (in psi and bar).
2. Oil Pump - Pumps the oil from the reservoir. Every 30 minutes, the pump sends 3ml of oil (at approximately 35 psi (2.41 bar)) to the lubrication points. This quantity of oil is supplied throughout the lube system.
3. Oil Filter - Removes contamination from the oil.

   Note: Some machines have an external filter next to the oil reservoir.

4. Low-Level Switch - Tells you if the oil level is low. This triggers Alarm 121 Low Oil Level or Pressure.
5. Oil Reservoir - Stores the oil.
6. Air Pressure Gauge - Shows the pressure (in psi and bar) at which the air is regulated.
7. Air Filter - Filters and removes moisture from the air before it goes to the machine.
8. Air Pressure Regulator - Keeps the air supply to the lubrication system at a constant pressure (approximately 85-90 psi or 5.86-6.21 bar).
9. Air Solenoid Assembly (some lathes only) - 4-way, 2-position valve that controls the air to the turret air cylinder.
10. Air Solenoid Assembly (lathes only with the parts-catcher option) - 3-way, 2-position valve that controls the air to the air cylinder for the parts catcher.
11. Power Cable - Supplies power to the air and lubrication panel from the control cabinet. The power cable carries signals from the switches to the control.

1. Air Pressure Switch - Monitors the air supply pressure. The switch sends a signal to the control to stop the machine if the air pressure falls below 70 psi (4.83 bar).
2. Solenoid Valve - Opens while the spindle turns to send the air/oil mixture to the spindle bearings.
3. Air Regulator - Keeps the air pressure to the spindle bearings correct.
4. Oil Mist Ports - Connect to the nylon tube that carries the air and oil mixture to the spindle bearings. Machines may have 1 or 2 ports. One port supplies the front spindle bearing, and the other supplies the rear bearing.
5. Air Pressure Gauge - Shows the pressure of the air and oil mixture to the spindle bearings.
6. Connector Plate - Contains all of the electrical connectors for the air-lubrication panel.
7. Pressure Switch - Monitors the oil supply pressure. The switch sends a signal to the control. The control generates an alarm if the pressure drops below the minimum level too quickly.
8. Oil Line - Sends oil to the ballscrews, linear guide trucks, and spindle bearings.
9. Oil Ports - Connect to flexible plastic tubing that carry the oil to the ballscrews and linear guide trucks.
10. Metering Units - Control the amount of oil sent to the spindle, ballscrew, and linear guide.

Note: The first drip sight glass was installed on Haas machines with the high pressure lubrication system manufactured after April 2010.

Note: Machines may have (1, 2, or 3) drip sight glasses.

Axis Lubrication Cycle

The Bijur mechanical oil pump lubricates the axes at a rate of (1) pump cycle (3 ml) for every 30 minutes of axis motion.

Oil moves from the reservoir [1] through a nylon tube to the main distribution manifold [2].

The main distribution manifold [2] sends oil to the axis manifolds [3].

Note: The number of axis manifolds is different on some machines.

Oil moves from the axis manifolds [3] through copper tubes. The copper tubes distribute oil to lubricate the linear guide trucks and the ballscrews.

Note: Each axis has (2-6) linear guide trucks [4] and (1) ballnut [5].

Note: There is (1) copper tube that goes to the ballnut and (1) copper tube that goes to each linear guide truck.

Axis Manifold Fitting Information

The Bijur mechanical oil pump lubrication system uses metering units [1] in the axis manifolds. The linear guide trucks use adapter fittings [2]. The list below describes the differences between metering units and adapter fittings:

Metering units are located only at the axis manifold and not at the linear guide trucks.

Adapter fittings are smaller than metering units and do not meter oil flow.

Metering units have a directional arrow engraved on the shaft.

Note: The ballscrews and linear guides get different amounts of oil. This is normal.

Note: The copper tubes on this system are not equal length.
