Rugged and Powerful Machines

The EC-1600 Series machines are rugged 50-taper horizontal machining centers with large work cubes and heavy part capacity. The ZT model provides additional Z-axis travel to accommodate larger parts and longer tools. An integrated 4th-axis rotary platter is available to provide access to four sides of a part or tombstone. These machines have the power to cut alloy steels, stainless steels, cast iron, and high-nickel alloys, yet provide the speed necessary for aluminum alloys.

All Haas spindles are designed and built in-house at our Southern California manufacturing facility. EC Series machines come standard with a heavy-duty, 7500-rpm, geared-head, 50-taper spindle. For high-speed cutting, a 10,000-rpm geared-head spindle is available.

Tool Changers

Tool capacity needs can vary by the job or process. As with all systems on systems on Haas machines, these tool changers are designed and manufactured in house by Haas. The EC Series machines come standard with a 30+1 side-mount tool changer. For additional tool capacity, an optional 50+1 side-mount tool changer is available.

Multi-Axis Machining

Adding a rotary axis to a horizontal mill is the fastest way to boost throughput and increase accuracy. Because Haas began as a rotary table manufacturer, we are able to provide the simplest and most cost-effective entry into 4th- and 5th axis machining available. Additional axes can be added to any EC Series machine in the field, along with Haas rotary tables. Features built into the Haas Control, like G107 Cylindrical Engraving, only make the move to multi-axis machining that much easier.

Wireless Probing

Setup reduction is critical to maximizing the productivity of any machine tool. With the probing solutions available from Haas, any machine can be set up in minutes with just a few button pushes. Our industry-leading Wireless Intuitive Probing System (WIPS) sets the standard for integrated probing systems. Easy on-screen directions guide beginning users through the process. Experienced users have access to the full power and capabilities of custom probe routines, including in-process part inspection.

Chips & Coolant Management

Chip and coolant management is critical for any machine tool. As machinists ourselves, we know that if you can’t keep chips out of the cutting area and remove them from the machine efficiently, you aren’t using the machine to its full potential. Haas machines offer one of the widest selections of chip and coolant management options in the industry.

The Haas Control

Ease of use and simplicity are the founding principles of the Haas Control. Designed and built exclusively by Haas since its inception in 1988, the Haas Control is the standard by which all other controls are measured. Commonality between vertical machining centers, horizontal machining centers, and turning centers ensures that operators can easily move from one Haas machine to another. Continued advancement of the Haas Control – with powerful features like 1 GB of program memory, Ethernet connectivity, Dynamic Work Offsets, and HaasConnect remote machine monitoring – allows customers to maximize their investment in a Haas machine.
