Turn off the main breaker for the HPU. Manually activate the unclamp/clamp solenoids to relieve any pressure from the system.

Unbolt and lower the sensor/anti-rotation bracket [1]. Remove the snap ring [2] from the shaft. Outside snap ring pliers with at least 2 inches of travel between the tips are necessary.

Lower the block [3] off the shaft. If it is difficult to remove the block, verify the HPU pressure is low and remove the hydraulic lines to release any residual pressure. The block should drop down easily after the lines are off.

Install jack bolts [4] under the clamp plate to prevent damage to the piston quad-ring.

Remove the (8) bolts [5] from the receiver.

Install (2) eyebolts in the clamp plate. Use an appropriate lifting strap to raise the receiver from the rotary.

Note: Hydraulic oil will leak out when the receiver is lifted.

Disconnect the hydraulic brake hose in the Z Axis base assembly.

Remove the brake housing [1].

Remove the brake ring [2]. The hydraulic hose [3] will lift through the casting from under the ring.

Install new brake ring and tighten the bolts by hand.

Jog the 4th Axis and indicate the outside diameter of the brake assembly (NTE 0.003” TIR).

Torque the bolts in star pattern referencing the HAAS TORQUE SPECIFICATION document., re-indicate the outer diameter of the brake assembly to verify after torque.

Apply a thin layer of CHUCK-EEZ grease to the outer diameter of the brake ring.

Clean and inspect B-Axis Platter Seal for any tears or warping.

If the Platter Seal is either damaged or is the original Felt Seal, replace with the following service kit:

• 93-4752 PLATTER SEAL SVC KIT EC-400/500/630

Lubricate the O-ring and Nylon Seal with Tacky Grease and install into the platter groove as shown [1].

Jog the 4th Axis and indicate the outside diameter of the brake housing, (NTE 0.003” TIR).

Torque the mounting bolts in star pattern referencing the HAAS TORQUE SPECIFICATION document. , re-indicate the brake housing to verify after torque.

Connect the hydraulic brake hose.

Jog the 4th Axis to align the hole in the brake housing [1] with the bleed plug in the brake ring [2].

Activate the brake. Loosen the bleed plug [2] with an allen wrench [3]. Allow the air to bleed from the system then tighten the plug.

Cycle the brake multiple times.

With the jack bolt [1] in place, lower the receiver onto the rotary body. Make sure the new O-ring stays in place under the receiver as its lowered into position. Hand tighten the (8) receiver bolts [2].

Install the rotary union block [3] onto the shaft and install the snap ring [4].

Install the sensor/anti-rotation bracket [5]. Apply a light layer of grease the pin.

Use a mag base and indicator to measure the runout of the receiver cap.

Indicate the side face of the keys and measure radial runout on the receiver, this is NTE 0.0005 in (0.0127 mm). Torque the bolts in star pattern referencing the HAAS TORQUE SPECIFICATION document.

 NOTE: The clamp plate is shown in the image but should not be installed at this time, this image is for reference only. 

Zero return the B Axis, set the Grid Offset (press B + F4 while on the parameter page in service mode.)

Handle jog the rotary until the arrow on the pallet is pointing towards the spindle.

Mount a mag base with indicator on the spindle. Jog the X Axis and indicate the face of the pallet. Handle jog the rotary until the face is parallel to X Axis is within 0.002".

While on the parameter page in service mode, press B + F2 to set the TC Offset.

Command a pallet change to verify that the B and Z axis TC Offsets are set correctly.
