Do this procedure for these TSC configurations:

• TSC 300 psi
• TS 1000 psi (This configuration has the coolant-pump cart.)
• TSC 1K psi

1. Bearingless TSC Union

Document Applies to these Parts:

• KIT PN: 93-2128A, HAAS BGLESS ROT UNION SER 40T 300/1000. QTY: 1

Tools Required:

• Spindle Lock Tool (T-1635)
• Red-I Grease
• Dial Indicator (that can measure 0.0001") with Magnetic Base

Remove and record the location of these parts from the bearingless TSC union:

• high-pressure braided hose [1]
• 20' (6096 mm) 1/4" gray tube [2]
• 5' (1524 mm) 1/4" gray tube [3]
• clamp for the 3/8" black hose [4]
• 3/8" black hose [5]

Remove these parts from spindle motor:

• (4) 1/4-20 socket-head cap screws (SHCS) [6]
• bearingless TSC union [7]
• (4) standoffs [8]
• shaft [9]

   

  Note: Turn the shaft clockwise to remove it.

Do this step if you removed a bearingless TSC union that has an installed regulator assembly [3].

Remove the fitting assembly [2] from the replacement bearingless TSC union [A].

Loosen the (4) 1/4-20 SHCS [4] to remove the regulator assembly [3] from the removed bearingless TSC union.

Loosen the (4) 1/4-20 SHCS [5] to install the regulator assembly [3] on to the replacement bearingless TSC union [A].

Torque the (4) SHCS [5]. Refer to the Haas Fastener Torque Specifications. Use the value for aluminum.

Do these steps to install the shaft [2]:

• Be sure the threads and o-ring on the shaft [2] are clean.
• Apply Red-I grease [1] to the o-ring of the shaft [2].
• Turn the shaft [2] counterclockwise to install it onto the spindle motor.
• Torque the shaft [2] to 30 ft-lb (41 Nm).
• Remove the spindle lock tool.
• Use the dial indicator [3] to measure the total indicated runout (TIR) of the shaft [2].

   

  Note: The TIR must be less than 0.001" (0.025 mm). If the TIR is more than 0.001" (0.025mm), contact Haas service.

Install these parts on to the spindle motor:

• (4) standoffs [1] (use the standoffs from the removed bearingless TSC union.)
• replacement bearingless TSC union [A]
• (4) replacement washers [B]
• (4) replacement 1/4-20 x 2" 1/4" SHCS [C]

Unlock the main breaker and push [POWER ON].

Run the spindle at 50 rpm. Make sure the shaft rotates correctly in the bearingless TSC union [A]. If the shaft rotates incorrectly, you will hear a noise from the bearingless TSC union [A].

Lock the main breaker and push [POWER OFF].

Torque the (4) SHCS [1]. Refer to Haas Fastener Torque Specifications. Use the value for aluminum.

Connect these parts to the bearingless TSC union:

• high-pressure braided hose [2]
• 20' (6096 mm) 1/4" gray tube [3]
• 5' (1524 mm) 1/4" gray tube [4]
• clamp for the 3/8" black hose [5]
• 3/8" black hose [6]

Operate this code in MDI mode:

• M59 P1148 ;
• G04 P5.0 ;
• M69 P1148 ;
• G04 P2.0 ;

P1148 is for inline spindles.

For HS machines, use P1124 and not P1148.

For belt-drive spindles, use P1120 and not P1148.

If the machine has a bearingless TSC union, it moves up and down at 7-second intervals. The up and down movement is small.

The illustration shows the up and down movements for 40-taper [1], 40-taper (CALM) [2], and 50-taper [3] machines.

Put a TSC toolholder [1] in the spindle. Push [AUX CLNT] to start the TSC.

Correct operation is as follows:

1. Coolant flows correctly from the TSC tool holder.
2. A few drops flow from the vacuum-generator hose [2].

Push [RESET].

Install the spindle-head cover panels.

Operate this code in MDI:

• M59 P26 ;
• G04 P5.0 ;
• M69 P26 ;
• G04 P2.0 ;
• M99 ;

P26 is for inline spindles.

For belt-drive spindles, use P35 and not P26.

The bearingless TSC union moves up and down at 7-second intervals. The up and down movement is small.

The illustration shows the up and down movements for 40-taper [1], 40-taper (CALM) [2], and 50-taper [3] machines.
