Introduction

This procedure tells you how to install the Haas Mini Conveyor system. 

  • 93-1000928 - Mini Conveyor Field Install Kit

Machine Compatibility

You can install the Mini Conveyor on the following machines built after 02/2023 that have an external 55-gallon (208 L) or 95-gallon (360 L) coolant tank.

  • DS/ST-30/Y
  • ST-35/Y
  • DM-1/2
  • DT-1/2
  • UMC-350/SS/HD
  • EC-400/500/630
  • EC-500/50
  • VC-400
  • VM-6
  • VF-7/8/9/10/11/12
  • VR-8/9/11/14

You can install the Mini Conveyor on the following UMC machines that have an external 55-gallon (208 L). Refer to UMC - Mini Conveyor - Field Installation.

  • UMC - 500/SS
  • UMC - 750/SS
  • UMC - 1000/SS
  • UMC - 1500-DUO/SS

 You should not do mechanical or electrical machine repairs or service procedures unless you are qualified and knowledgeable about the processes.

 Only authorized personnel with the proper training and certification should do this repair procedure.

Installation

1

 Remove and replace the Chip Tray with the Mini Conveyor unit. Install the Mini Conveyor with the motor closest to operator.

With the coolant tank in place, position the Chip Bin under the conveyor discharge.

Connect the 115VA Splitter Plug to the GFCI outlet located inside the control cabinet. Route the Splitter down into the lower cabinet box and connect to the Mini Conveyor power plug. Some machine models may need to use Extension Cable provided with kit.

Use the Cable Ties and the Cable Tie Clamp as necessary to route the cable in the enclosure apron.

Note: If the machine has a Haas Oil Skimmer installed. Unplug the 25 FT Extension Cable from the GFCI and plug it into one of the open outlets of the 115VA Splitter.

Mini Conveyor Operation

Note: To reduce the wear on the belt, Mini Conveyor unit should be kept in the OFF position when not in use.

  • Turn the power switch to the ON position during high chip discharge operation.
  • Empty the Chip Bin when full.

Introduction

This procedure demonstrates how to install a Mini Conveyor on a UMC machine.

Machine Compatibility

You can install the Mini Conveyor on the following machines that have an external 55-gallon (208 L).

  • UMC - 500/SS
  • UMC - 750/SS
  • UMC - 1000/SS
  • UMC - 1500-DUO/SS

Machine requirements:

  • UMC-500/SS machines require kit 93-3921 or 93-3928 to be installed before adding a Mini Conveyor. Refer to UMC - 500/SS - SPILLWAY EXTENSION - REPLACEMENT before installing a Mini Conveyor.
  • UMC-750/1000/1500/SS machines require kit 93-3937 or 93-3938 to be installed before adding a Mini Conveyor. Refer to UMC - 750/1000/1500/SS - Spillway Extension - Replacement before installing a Mini Conveyor.
  • Machines will either need an angled chip hopper or will need to order 93-1001021 MINI CONV CHIP FUNNEL FIELD INSTALL UMC.

This procedure applies to the following kit:

  • 93-1001004 MINI CONVEYOR FIELD INSTALL KIT UMC

 You should not do mechanical or electrical machine repairs or service procedures unless you are qualified and knowledgeable about the processes.

 Only authorized personnel with the proper training and certification should do this repair procedure.

Installation

1

Use the dimensions specified in the illustration to mark the hole locations to install the Mini Conveyor Bracket in the next step.

  • [1] 2 x 0.219” (5.5626 mm) Diameter Hole
  • [2] 0.33” (8.382 mm)
  • [3] 12” (3.048 mm)

Use self-tapping screws to install Mini Conveyor Bracket.

Note: Mini Conveyors with no Tensioning Spring, add Spring provided in the kit following Step 3 and Step 4. If Tension Spring is already in place, skip to step 5.

Holding the Jam Nut [3] in place, unscrew Tensioning Screw [1] and insert Tensioning Spring [2] between both tension brackets and screw Tensioning Screw [1] back in as you hold the Jam Nut [3] in place. The Tensioning Screw should be going through the Tensioning Spring as pictured in step 8.

Add Tensioning Spring to both left and right side of the Mini Conveyor and evenly tension the belt.

Replace wings with new wings provided in kit. Use ¼ x 20 bolts to install Left Wing [1] and Right Wing [2].

 Note: Check the motor name plate. It should be a 1 RPM motor [1]. If a 5 RPM motor [2] is installed, it will need to be retrofitted to a 1 RPM motor. Refer to the Mini Conveyor - Motor Replacement.

Important: Machines without an angled chip hopper will need to install MINI CONV CHIP FUNNEL [1].

Use (4) FBHCS 1/4-20 X 1/2 SLF-TP to install the MINI CONV CHIP FUNNEL [1].

Place Mini Conveyor onto Coolant Tank.

Slide Coolant Tank in place.

With the Coolant Tank in place, position the Chip Bin under the conveyor discharge.

Use the Cable Ties and Magnetic Cable Holders as necessary to route the cable along the Coolant Tank.

 

Route cable using cable holder inside rear enclosure.

 

Connect the 115VAC Splitter Plug to the GFCI outlet located inside the control cabinet.

 

Route the Splitter down into the lower cabinet box and connect to the Mini Conveyor power plug. Some machine models may need to use Extension Cable provided with kit.

 

If the machine has a Haas Oil Skimmer installed. Unplug the 25 FT Extension Cable from the GFCI and plug it into one of the open outlets of the 115VAC Splitter.

Introduction

This procedure will guide you on how to replace the belt on the Haas Mini Conveyor.

This document applies to the following parts:

  •   93-3748 MINI CONVEYOR BELT SVC KIT 

Removal

1

Remove the two wings from the chassis.

2

Back out the Tensioning Screws and Jamnuts on both sides to release tension from the belt.

3

Remove the tension springs from the tensions brackets.

4

Remove the 1/4-20 nut and tensioning brackets from both sides of the inner tensioning rod.

5

Slide the roller towards the opening in the chassis and remove the inner tensioning rod from the rod sleeve. 

6

Loosen the setscrews [1] on both hubs. Remove the support pin and brass bushing [2] from the Drive rod. 

7

Slide the drive rod away from the motor shaft  and lift from the chassis.

8

Remove the drive shaft and tension shaft from the old belt.

Installation

1

Install the drive rod assembly through the belt and onto the motor shaft.

2

Insert the Rod Sleeve in the belt [1], install the Inner Rod through the opening in the chassis and into the Rod Sleeve.

Attach the Tensioning Brackets to both ends of the Slave Rod assembly.

4

Install the Tensioning Screws and Springs with Jamnuts to both sides and evenly tension the belt.

5

Use vice grip clamps or c-clamps to compress the Springs between the Tensioning Brackets.

 

6

Install the brass bushing and support pin:

  • Align the two holes shown
  • Tighten the setscrews on both sides

7

Install the two wings onto the chassis:
  • Power up the motor and let the conveyor run to test the tension of the belt
  • Adjust if necessary

Introduction

This procedure tells you how to install and wire a replacement motor for a mini conveyor. The motor should already be installed in the Mini Conveyor but in the event where the motor needs to be replaced or the Mini Coveyor Kit did not come with the motor installed, follow this procedure.

Motor Replacement

1

Push [E-STOP].

Disconnect Mini Conveyor from the power plug located inside the control cabinet.

2

Remove the Mini Conveyor from the Coolant Tank.

3

Remove the (4) screws [1] to remove the motor and the motor cover.

4

Disconnect Black and White [1] wires by loosening the screws to remove the motor and replace it with the motor provided in the kit.

 

Reconnect wires in the same order that the wires were connected. 

5

Install motor and cover and screw the (4) bolts [1].

6

Place Mini Conveyor onto the Coolant Tank.

7

Connect Mini Conveyor to the power plug located inside the control cabinet.
