Update 10-05-2016: Clarified the Permanent Solution statement.
Update: The software versions listed in the "Permanent Solution" section of this document have been changed from "Mill 18.13C or Lathe 11.10D" to "Mill 18.14A or Lathe 11.11A"
Issue: A multi-colored screen shows. The control tries to display the ALARM 144 TIME OUT expiration warning, but the multi-colored screen may hide the warning. This also can cause alarms: 101 MOCON COMM. FAILURE, 825 FRONT PANEL INTERFACE FAULT - CRC ERROR, and 488 INTERNAL CPU BUS ERROR.
Cause: This occurs on machines with fewer than 5 days left before required activation, with software versions Mill 18.07A through Mill 18.13B or Lathe 11.06B through Lathe 11.10C. This occurs when the activation notice occurs at the same time the customer presses Cycle Start at an M00 or M01.
Temporary Solution: Clear the alarms. Cycle the power. Get and enter the extension code or the permanent release code. Use option 7 in the Parameter Program to make sure that the machine parameters have not changed from Haas default values. DO NOT REPLACE ANY PARTS TO REPAIR THIS ISSUE.
Permanent Solution: Install the latest version of software available. As of the date of this Service Alert, the current Mill software version is Mill 18.14A (or higher) or Lathe 11.11A (or higher) (project #46252).
Refer to the Automatic Control Software Update (Mill VER18 and Lathe VER11) procedure.
