AVAILABLE ON THESE MACHINES
This Haas Through-Spindle Coolant system provides up to 300 psi (21 bar) of coolant to the cutting tool, allowing for heavier cuts, higher feedrates, deep-hole drilling, and better surface finishes. With Through-Spindle Coolant, you can really reduce your cycle times to increase throughput, and you’ll produce higher-quality parts. To minimize clogging, the Haas TSC pump includes an innovative self-cleaning feature.
NOTE: Maximum rpm with TSC enabled is 15,000 rpm, except on DC series machines, which support TSC up to 20,000 rpm.

How-To Procedure
Everyone knows that TSC or Through-Spindle-Coolant helps extend tool life and can even improve part finishes. TSC is also an important part in automation, it gives the machinist and even the shop owner peace of mind that machines are able to drill, mill, and tap reliably, especially while running unattended.
In this video, Scott and Matt demonstrate some of the advantages of the Haas TSC system by comparing traditional flood coolant and through-spindle coolant on the same drilling application.
Why Through-Spindle Coolant (TSC)?
Note: The Through-Spindle Coolant Ready option is required to field-install Through-Spindle Coolant. Requires 3-phase power.
Drilling Comparison: 6 holes at 2.0" (51 mm) depth*
High-speed steel drill, peck drilling with flood coolant:
• 1⁄2" high-speed steel (HSS) drill
• Spindle speed: 3820 rpm
• Feedrate: 62 ipm
• Peck depth: 0.25"
• Cycle time: 44 sec
Carbide drill, single-shot drilling with through-spindle coolant:
• 1⁄2" carbide drill
• Spindle speed: 15,000 rpm
• Feedrate: 180 ipm
• Single shot
• Cycle time: 20 sec
Note: Spot drill operations are only needed when working with HSS tooling. With carbide drills and TSC, no spot drill operation is needed. This reduces cycle times and increases productivity.
*Comparison does not include a spot drill operation.
Part cycle time without through-spindle coolant = 5 min 30 sec
Part cycle time with through-spindle coolant enabled = 4 min
Difference: 1 minute 30 seconds
Parts per hour without through-spindle coolant: 11
Parts per hour with through-spindle coolant: 14 = 27% faster
DO THE MATH
* Carbide tooling with TSC capability is required to take full advantage of the option
TSC PRESSURE RELEASE – HAAS AUTOMATION SERVICE TIP
NOTE: These instructional videos show procedures that should be performed only by trained service technicians. If you don’t have the proper training you could injure yourself or damage your machine. In this episode, service engineer Brian Dickenson explains why sometimes there is a delay between tool changes after using TSC, and provides a simple way to eliminate these delays.
THROUGH-SPINDLE COOLANT (TSC) FOR HAAS MILLING MACHINES – HAAS AUTOMATION
Haas has two Through-Spindle Coolant systems: a 300 psi (21 bar) and a 1000 psi (69 bar) system. These reliable systems supply high-pressure coolant that flows through the cutting tool, allowing for heavier cuts, higher feedrates, deep-hole drilling, and better surface finishes. With Through-Spindle Coolant, you’ll reduce your cycle times, increase throughput, and produce higher-quality parts. To minimize clogging, the Haas TSC pump includes an innovative self-cleaning feature.
THROUGH-SPINDLE COOLANT – HAAS HOW IT WORKS
In this episode of our How It Works series, Mechanical Engineer Katherine White describes how Haas through-spindle coolant (TSC) systems work, explains the benefits of using TSC, and demonstrates the proper applications for both 300 psi (21 bar) and 1000 psi (69 bar).
THE ADVANTAGES OF THROUGH-SPINDLE COOLANT
In this video, Scott and Matt demonstrate some of the advantages of the Haas TSC system by comparing traditional flood coolant and through-spindle coolant on the same drilling application.
