Axis Servo Motor Cable - Brushless - With Grommet - Replacement

Axis Servo Motor Cable - Brushless - With Grommet - Replacement

Introduction

This procedure tells you how to replace these brushless axis cables:

  • 2-Cable set: motor power and encoder
  • 3-Cable set: motor power, encoder, and brake

Cable Replacement

1

Note: The replacement cable kit includes a grommet. The grommet has holes for the Power Cable [1], Encoder Cable [2], and [3] Brake Cables (The brake cable hole [3] is not on the grommet if you have a 2-Cable set).

If the cable that you must replace has a mechanical axis limit switch cable [4] for the axis movement, install the jumper [5] on the switch cable [4].

Put labels on the locations of the cables you will replace.

  • The encoder cable connection location is on the processor PCB [1]
  • The power cable connection location is on the amplifier [2]
  • If you have a brake cable, the connection location is on the I/O PCB [3]

Cut the extra rubber [3] off of the grommet. Make sure a space is between the smaller diameter of the grommet and the larger diameter of the grommet, as shown [4].

Fill the amphenol connectors on the motors [5] with dielectric grease.

Install the new axis cable. Put the cables [6] into the grommet [7]. If you have a brake cable, put it in the grommet [7] first.

Push the grommet [7] through the hole in the control cabinet. Make sure the tab [8] on the grommet goes fully through. This holds the grommet in position on the inside of the control cabinet.
