SPINDLES

All Haas spindles are designed and built in-house at our California manufacturing facility. UMCs feature the proven inline spindle design from our VF Series – providing maximum torque output, thermal stability, fast acceleration, and proven reliability. Speeds range from 8100-rpm to 15,000-rpm.

TOOL CHANGERS

All Haas tool changers are designed and manufactured in-house to ensure the utmost quality and long-term reliability. UMCs come standard with a versatile side-mount tool changer. In keeping with the Haas commitment to using common components, this is the same high-quality tool changer found on the VF Series for more than 15 years.

MULTI-AXIS MACHINING

After building rotary products for more than 30 years, we combined our extensive knowledge and proven parts to create the Haas Universal Machining Center – a purpose-built, full 5-axis, universal mill. Our Universal Machining Centers can quickly position parts to nearly any angle for 5-sided (3+2) machining, or provide full simultaneous 5-axis motion for contouring and complex machining. Dynamic Work Offsets (DWO) and Tool Center Point Control (TCPC) are software features built into the Haas control that make setting up 4- and 5-axis jobs as easy as setting up a 3-axis machine.

WIRELESS PROBING

Setup reduction is critical to maximizing the productivity of any machine tool. With the probing solutions available from Haas, any machine can be set up in minutes, with just a few button pushes. Our industry-leading Wireless Intuitive Probing System (WIPS) comes standard on all UMCs, and sets the standard for integrated probing systems. Easy, on-screen directions guide beginning users through the probing process, while experienced users have access to the full power and capabilities of custom probe routines, including in-process part inspection.

CHIP & COOLANT MANAGEMENT

Chip and coolant management are critical for any machine tool. For that reason, Haas offers multiple methods of dealing with chips and coolant. As machinists ourselves, we know that if you can’t keep chips out of the cutting area and remove them from the machine efficiently, you aren’t using the machine to its full potential. Different jobs require different approaches to chip clearing: flood coolant, through-spindle coolant, through-spindle air, minimum quantity lubrication, and more. Haas machines offer one of the widest selections of chip and coolant management options in the industry.

THE HAAS CONTROL

Ease of use and simplicity are the founding principles of the Haas Control. Designed and built exclusively by Haas since its inception in 1988, the Haas Control is the standard by which all other controls are measured. Commonality between vertical machining centers, horizontal machining centers, and turning centers ensures that operators can easily move from one Haas machine to another. Continued advancement of the Haas Control – with powerful features like power-failure detection, Ethernet connectivity, Dynamic Work Offsets, and HaasConnect remote machine monitoring – allows customers to maximize their investment in a Haas machine.

The compact footprint of the Haas UMC-500SS Series makes it a perfect solution for 3+2 machining and simultaneous 5-axis machining of smaller parts. The UMC-500SS is equipped with a faster spindle, high-speed tool changer, and high-speed trunnion table to reduce cycle times and boost productivity. Couple this with our 16-Station Pallet Pool and you'll be taking your production to the next level; where running “lights out” becomes a reality.

UMC-1500-DUO Cutting Demo

The Haas UMC-1500-DUO is like having two machines in one: a powerful 5-axis universal machining center, and a versatile 3-axis vertical machining center. We took our industry-leading UMC-750, expanded its X-axis travel, and added a stationary 32" x 18" T-slot table next to the dual-axis trunnion.

Haas UMC-1600-H Cutting Demo

What do you get when you take our massive EC-1600ZT horizontal and add an equally massive 630 mm rotary table to it? You get the UMC-1600-H! Capable of both 3+2 and full 5-axis machining, this heavy-duty configuration provides large part capacity and 50-taper machining capabilities for larger 5-axis projects. The 5th-axis has a maximum swing diameter of 48" (1219 mm), and can handle parts up to 1500 lb (680 kg) unsupported, or up to 3000 lb (1361 kg) with an optional outboard support.

When working within the aerospace industry, there’s no room for error, it has to be right; so Flying S not only employs quality people, but also uses only quality equipment. They have about 25 Haas CNC machines, which they employ for a variety of uses. This includes 6 UMCs, with full 4th- and 5th-axis capability, including simultaneous 5-axis motion; several GR series gantry routers, which offer very large part envelopes and high rpm, while still maintaining high accuracy and precision; VMCs w/APCs, DTs, an ST-30SSY with bar feed for mill/turning, a handful of small and medium verticals, and a VF-10. The machining consists mostly of aluminum cutting for aerospace flight hardware, and composite mold tooling. Three of the vertical machines are dedicated exclusively to composite trimming full shifts every day, with dust collection and AirTurbine spindle attachments.

GAT today has 16 Haas models, including several vertical machining centres, 5-axis universal machining centers and lathes. The company’s latest additions, however, are two UMC-750 five-axis universal machining centres, the first to arrive in the region formerly known as Yugoslavia (Bosnia- Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, and Slovenia). The machines have been set to work producing parts such as clutch levers, which GAT designed in co-operation with its customer.
